A new 6-minute video posted on the Legends of Runeterra Twitter account highlights a number of new game modes and features coming to the League of Legends card game.

First up is Gauntlet, and new hardcore challenge mode that tasks players with winning 7 games in a row. Gauntlet will have an evolving ruleset that begins with constructing a standard deck and changes each week. After the first Gauntlet, the next one will only allow players to build decks with a maximum of 1 copy of each card. It isn’t clear if or what the entrance fee will be for Gauntlet, but players may only be able to try once per week.

The second new game mode is Labs. Labs are a highly-experimental game modes that is meant to be casual. Much like Hearthstone’s Tavern Brawls, each new game mode in the Lab will introduce totally new rule sets and experiment with the way Runeterra is played. The first experiment will start in July.

Finally, a seasonal event is coming in July. Runeterra’s seasonal events will bring limited-time cosmetics and quests to the game and will last for an entire month.

The update video then goes on to describe how new cards will be introduced through sets. Major sets will be released alongside new regions every 6 months, while smaller sets will be added every 2 months in order to keep the game fresh.
