Let’s start things off with a little PSA, shall we? I, by no means, mean to imply that one needs to be of a certain caliber to excel at any game. Games should be open to the public. We do not support gatekeeping in this house. Everyone is free to play whatever game they like. We respect all gamers, no matter if they are hardcore and dedicated or just enjoy to play the games casually. There is room for all gamers in my house. But I digress.

There are few things as fun as playing a game that has had one enraptured and entertained from start to finish. Defeating the final boss and watching those credits roll is one of the most satisfying and rewarding feelings I have and will ever experience in my lifetime. However, game developers are cheeky little buggers and love to fill games with hidden content, easter eggs, secret rooms, and bonus perks that can only be found by those who have the time to dedicate themselves to searching each and every square inch of a game’s world. But not a lot of people have time for that, which is why I decided to bless the people of the internet with a handy-dandy guide that contains confidential information on all of the hidden gems that can be found within The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

25 An Alternate Opening

Sure, opening sequences can be awesome. But what about secret alternative openings that the devs have hidden within the game? Now that is so much better. To access this elusive alternate opening, one needs to be quick and effective. After turning the console on, immediately open the main menu via pressing the start key. Scroll up until the “Options” section appears on-screen and open this section of the menu by pressing “A.” Hit the “B” button the literal moment that the “Options” screen appears. Return to the main menu, press “B” once more, and then enjoy your alternate opening.

24 Collect All The Gossip Stones

Collecting things can be a difficult aspect of any game. But luckily, I am here to make your life a little easier. Here is a comprehensive list containing each and every location in which one of the Gossip Stones contained within the game is hidden. Don’t forget the Mask of Truth. First, you need to get yourself on over to Termina Field. The first stone will be in North Termina and will be hiding out close to the entrance to the town itself. The second stone will be found on the left side of the observatory in East Termina. The third stone will be found in South Termina near the tree wall and situated between Milk Road and the Swamp. The final stone will be found in West Termina. It is hidden underneath a boulder due North of the entrance to Clock Town.

23 The Secret Shrine Of Ikana Canyon

Behind a beautiful waterfall in the southeastern quarter of Ikana Canyon, there is a secret shrine that can only be fully accessed if a player has a light arrow in their inventory. Though the caves antechamber (which is filled with rupees, replenishing items, and other treats) can be accessed by all who come across the secret shrine, the mini-game aspect of this hidden world requires the light arrow. The rest of the area is made up of caverns which lead to four mini-boss guarded dungeons. If one defeats every boss, Link will be reward with a “piece of heart.”

22 Find All The Stray Fairies

Once upon a time, there were five beings known as the Great Fairies but Majora’s Mask shattered them into several lesser stray fairies. By discovering all of these little creatures, players can reunite the Great Fairies. In order to make the resuscitation a little smoother, I have compiled a list of the location of each and every stray fairy in the game. The orange fairy can be found in the laundry pool in East Clock Town. The pink fairy is hiding in the Woodfall temple whilst the green fairy will be found in the Snowhead Temple. The violet fairy resides in the Green Bay temple and the yellow fairy lives in the Stone Tower Temple.

21 Meeting The Secret (And Awesome) Hidden Witch

Sometimes the best hidden features in a game don’t alter any aspect of the gameplay itself. Sometimes the best easter eggs are simple scenery, background, or character changes that one only notices if they are looking. For example, if one is to happen across the Southern Swamp on the second day, players will see one of the Twinrova witches take flight in order to discover the looking of her missing sister. No aspect of the witch quest gameplay will be changed, but its a nice little extra bit of content for those who happen to stumble across it.

20 Epic Rupees In Clock Town

Are you looking for an easy way to collect 100 rupees? Grab your bunny hood and travel to East Clock Town for there is a chest filled with virtual money just waiting for you. Find the Astral Observatory, head on up to the raised platform, wander through the door frames, and find a way onto the roof of the Shooting Gallery. After completing each and every step of that arduous journey correctly, you will come across a large treasure chest which contains 100 rupees. Note: this chest refills itself whenever the games 3-day cycle is restarted.

19 52 Pieces Make A Whole Heart

Now, since there are 52 Pieces of Heart, I am unfortunately unable to link each and every piece as well as its location (as many pieces require multiple steps before access is granted.) So, I have decided to provide a guide for several of the pieces and then provide you with a link to a more comprehensive guide which details each and every piece and its location. A piece can be found within the hole in the Inner Palace Garden of the Deku Palace. Another can be found atop a tree at the beginning of the Southern Swap. Before the fight with Majora’s Mask occurs, pieces can be found within the Moon itself. Betting on dog races in Romani Ranch can also result in a piece of heart falling into your hands.

18 Breaking Into Goron Shrine

As many of you already know, Goron Shrine has a pretty strict closed-door policy. Gaining entrance to the shrine usually requires Link to have to engage in conversation with the shrine’s keeper. But Link can waltz right through those doors so long as he uses the “Goron Ground Pound” near the door while wearing the Goron mask. Note: using the Goron Ground Pound in a location that is nowhere near the door will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the door.

17 Pro Tip: Learn The Scarecrow’s Secret (Quick!)

It’s rude to leave a conversation before it has properly concluded. Especially when one party has information that they need to convey to the other but they take off before that information can be transferred. When talking to the Scarecrow, make sure that you hear everything he has to tell you. For, if you carry the conversation out until the end, the Scarecrow will teach you a song that gifts you with the power of time control. And since we only have three days to save the world, we need this song. Reversing the notes of the song will cause time to slow down and doubling up on every note will cause time to go by much more quickly. Thanks, Mr. Scarecrow…or should I say Scare-bro?

16 UFOs In A Fantasy Zelda Game?

Everyone has a relative that is completely obsessed with UFO’s (in my family that is me) and in Anju’s family, that person is his grandmother. If you ever decide to take a gander around her room in the Stock Pot Inn, you might notice that she has photos of UFOs literally everywhere. Most grandmothers cover their walls with photos of their families and relatives, but not this one. Her suite is literally covered in photos of UFOs, alien-abduction sketches, and lovely photos of countryside landscapes that also feature UFOs.

15 Scamming The Boat Trips MACHINE

Listen, life can get expensive. Sometimes, you just can’t afford to do the things you want (or need) to do. I get that. I am a recent university grad currently floating in the ether of “what do I do next?” But when you’re trying to save the world from being crushed by the moon, you don’t really have time to build a savings account. If you take a photo with the Pictograph Box and hand it over to the guide who guards the Old Koume’s Boat Cruise in the Southern Swamp, you will gain access to a free boat trip!

14 Stay Fierce Forever

Sometimes you just want to be fierce all of the time. I get it. So here is how you can keep Link in his most fierce state all of the time. First, find an accessible body of water. Next, slide on both the Zora mask and wade out into waist deep waters. Remove the mask and once Link can touch the bottom of the water, quickly put the mask back on and try to swim back to land. If all steps have been done correctly, Link will perform a roll attack and the B button should be rendered totally useless. Place the Fierce Deity mask on without removing the Zora mask on. If the steps have been followed and executed correctly, Link should stay Fierce forever.

13 An Epic Milky Road To Rupees (200!)

Hey, what’s up, you guys! Zooey here! And I am back with another way to get easy rupees! We are talking fat stacks of cash money! First, you have to get yourself down to Milk Road outside of Clock Town. Next, you have to wait for Takuri the bird to try and whoop you. If you are victorious, you will win 200 rupees. But here is the real kicker, there is no limit to how many times you can do this. You can literally become rich by kicking this bird until the cows come home. And no one can stop you.

12 Quick Save Away Your Mayhem With Music

Look, I know there is no real purpose to this. But sometimes it is just fun to muck about in a virtual world. While exploring Termina, it’s important to interact with everything. You never know what might be hiding inside or behind any given object. So it’s very important to smash, destroy, or cut up any object in your path. Doing so is also incredibly fun and a great stress reliever. However, destroying a town that you are meant to be protecting can weigh on you emotionally. So, in order to limit the amount of property damage that Link performs, you can play the ‘Song of Healing’ (C-left, C-right, C-down) to force the object to fix itself.

11 The Owl Warp Glitch Is Serious Business

Sometimes the best features in a game aren’t features at all. Instead, they are simply glitches that the developers never intended to be included in the game but players have made good use of. For example, there is a minor glitch in Majora’s Mask which makes it possible for players to change the destination that the warp owls may send a player to. To activate said glitch, hover over a location in the map while in the pause menu. Then, quickly exit the pause screen and play the ‘Song of Soaring’ as fast as you possibly can. The game should indicate to you the new location of the warp.

10 Nintendo Hides The Best Stuff…

Like Pixar and Disney, Nintendo has been known to toss in an easter egg or a reference to their other published works every now and then. And Majora’s Mask is no exception. In the Bomb Shop, one can find something akin to a Nintendo GameCube. The Ultra-Hand can also be seen close by. R.O.B. can be found in Kafei’s hideout. Deep inside the Marine Research Lab of the Great Bay, the original Nintendo Love Tester can be found nestled between some test tubes and beakers.

9 An Encounter With Lord Chapu-Chapu

I love it when games reference previous installments in their own series. If one is to travel to the Swamp Fishing Hole, they may stumble across a fish boss named Lord Chapu-Chapu. This is, of course, a reference to Lord Jabu-Jabu who was featured in Ocarina of Time. If you manage to catch this little bugger on your fishing line, some boss music will start playing, and you might have to throw down. Sometimes you just have to fight the fish that feeds you.

8 Hidden Holes Everywhere

Can you handle the hole? First off, there are five established locations within the game and each one has a plethora of holes which players can explore. Ikana has three hidden holes (on the road to the canyon, near Keeta’s resting place, and by the secret shine.) Great Bay has three as well (behind the Fisherman’s Hut, cliffs, near the Great Fairy Fountain.) Snowhead (by Darmani’s grave, near and on the twin islands, and near the temple) and Woodfall (north of Deku, woods of mystery, inner palace garden, and on the road to the Southern Swamp) both have four. And the wonderful world that is Termina Field has eleven unique holes throughout the entire area.

7 Invisible Swords

Do you wanna know what is better than having an insanely cool fairy sword? Why, it’s having an invisible insanely cool fairy sword, of course! If you too want to experience the absolute nirvana that comes with brandishing about an invisible sword than simply follow these next few steps. First off, one must have the fairy sword in their inventory. Then one must equip it. Next, one must place said sword into a mailbox. Any old mailbox will do. Then remove the sword from the mailbox and bingo, bango. It should now be invisible.

6 Tricking Igos Du Ikana

If you wanna pull a classic prank on Igos Du Ikana and his many servants, then get ready to get your virtual practical jokes on. The first prank involves Igos’ servants and is honestly more than an Easter Egg than anything as it doesn’t truly affect gameplay. In the midst of the battle, Link can whip out the Bremen Mask and the servants will immediately stop fighting him. The mask does have to be removed to complete the battle. The second prank gets a far bigger reaction and even includes a special cutscene. If Link wears the Captain’s Hat post-battle, Igos will be tricked into thinking that Link is actually Keeta and a quick cutscene will be revealed.
