Love makes the world go round. Love also unites people from over the world and brings them together in a special way. You might say there is no replacement for love. But as it turns out, there is. Fandom is a bond that is very underrated. Much like love, it brings together people from around the world for a common cause. It might be even greater than love as it elicits more responses from the people that make the fandom. We laugh, cry, feel loved, hate, and share despair, all this due to the crazy, yet addictive, allure of a franchise.
The Marvel franchise is one that does not comprise of just one universe. First, we have Earth 616, the true continuity of all the comic book universe. But now with comic book movies usurping the source material in popularity we have multiple universe that come under Marvel. The most popular of these is Earth 199,999, better known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then there’s also the X-Men film universe that has been around since 2000. This entire franchise media has led to fandoms for these universes and they have qualities that fans have deemed similar to how they feel.
Some elements are such that they evoke the same responses in all fans, meaning there is not much room for interpretation as all fans feel the same way about it. The following are 27 fan comics that will make any fan say “Same.”
27 Smart Woman
While Avengers: Age of Ultron may not be considered the best Avengers film–it has a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the lowest rated MCU films–it did give us a few camaraderie filled moments with the Avengers themselves. In the first film, the characters had all been introduced to each other and the only friendly hangout they had had was the Shawarma scene. In Avengers: Infinity War the original team was never together on screen. During the party scene in Age of Ultron, Thor dared his friends to lift Mjolnir.
Only Black Widow refused to lift the hammer in the film.
Iron Man obsessed over lifting the weapon, even enlisting Rhodey for help, while only Captain America managed to move it slightly. Black Widow didn’t give a reason for her reluctance to lift the hammer but it is understood she would not have been able to had she attempted to do so. But she has also been able to keep up with the big guns like Thor and Iron Man on the battlefield and it is mainly due to her quick wit during battle. Had she opted to give in Thor’s request, we can all agree this comic depiction is pretty much how it would have gone.

26 Annoying Across Universes
It’s a shame we won’t get to see Deadpool interact with the Avengers anytime soon. While it has been announced that Disney will most likely acquire the rights of the X-Men and Fantastic Four character sometime in the future, it is still uncertain when we will see it culminate into the superheroes’ integration in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Fantastic Four have suffered the most from being cut off from Marvel as their films are considered to be the biggest duds. While Fox has done better with the X-Men film series, we are certain nobody will turn down the opportunity to see Deadpool face off with the Avengers.
There are a good variety of heroes for the Merc with a Mouth to annoy. His exchanges with Tony Stark and Peter Quill something people will fork large amounts of cash to witness. Meanwhile another dream pairing for Deadpool is with Captain America, who would likely experience a panic attack thanks to Wade’s poor use of language. And then there’s the Hulk. The green monster has the mind of a toddler at most and would be easily annoyed by Deadpool’s antics at his expense. Since Thor: Ragnarok, the Hulk has shown great comedic potential which would mean comedy gold when paired with Deadpool.

25 The Older Guys
With Avengers: Infinity War taking place in 2018, both Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers have entered triple digits as far as their ages are concerned. While they are far away to Thor and Loki’s ages of over 1000 years, Bucky and Steve are great-grandparent equivalents on Earth. The Winter Soldier introduces himself as a “Semi-Stable One Hundred Year Old Man” in Infinity War, showing he has fully embraced his age. Unfortunately for these two lifelong pals they haven’t gotten any chance of having any bro moments in the modern world despite being active for at least over half a decade.
But if we were to imagine a scenario where the Avengers had all coexisted and the events of Captain America: Civil War had never come to pass then this comic could have become a reality. While in Civil War we saw Captain America use a smartphone with no problems, it is still understood he must be out of touch with modern technology. Tony Stark, always with his inflated ego, would have had the time of his life watching the two old men lose their minds over how to function a smartphone together. This comic also punctuates Tony’s self-importance by showing him gulping down coffee in a mug that reads ‘World’s Greatest Everything.’

24 That Sums It Up
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 featured Star-Lord getting over issues stemming from losing his mother. While the film focused on the group as a whole we were still mainly shown Peter Quill’s side of the story with only Drax’s despondency of having lost his family being touched upon to some degree more. At the end of the film Star-Lord finally had the guts to open his mother’s final gift to him which turned out to be Awesome Mix Vol. 2, giving him a whole set of new songs to remember his mother by.
Avengers: Infinity War confirmed all of Peter Quill’s films dealt with him and his family issues.
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 he met his father, who turned out to be a mad literal planet whose mission was to use Peter to assimilate all life across the universe, thus Vol. 2 showcased Quill’s Daddy issues. In Avengers: Infinity War, Peter finally met Thanos, the father of Gamora, and with his relationship with Gamora now in full flow their meeting was somewhat like a person meeting their future father-in-law. Without any doubt, Quill has no liking for Thanos considering the Titan flung his own daughter off a cliff to her demise, meaning Quill’s father-in-law issues are left unresolved.
23 The Final Embrace
This would be the safest claim when we say we all felt the same way when Thor and Loki interacted at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. After four movies together where they were at odds for the most part we finally got to see a brotherly love moment between these two. In this scene, Thor thanks Loki for returning to his aid against Hela and for bringing the Statesmen ship along with him to rescue the other Asgardians. Up until this point, Loki had mainly approached Thor as a magical hologram as opposed to being present in person. While Thor appreciated Loki being there, he was certain Loki didn’t have as much love for his brother to be physically in the room.
Loki would prove him wrong by revealing he was actually there for Thor.
In the preceding line Thor had said he would “Hug (Loki) if you were actually here.” The ending to this exchange could only an embrace in-universe but the scene cut away before we could see it. Fangirls around the world screamed in dismay when we weren’t shown the hug between the two but it has led to this fan comic where the creator has imagined the embrace Thor and Loki shared. After all the sorrow and tribulations it would be fair to assume these brothers did shed a tear or two. Unfortunately, there was more despair to follow in Avengers: Infinity War.

22 Can Hardly Wait
It turned out to be pretty simple for Tony Stark to recruit Peter Parker to work for his side in Captain America: Civil War. While both Spider-Man (2002) and The Amazing Spider-Man had shown their interpretations of the wallcrawler to be cautious in his approach as the hero, the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spidey had his ambitions set from the start to be part of the Avengers. Although Peter had been partly reluctant to accompany Tony to Germany at first, Spider-Man: Homecoming showed the boy had in fact documented his entire experience in excitement.
Fans have loved this different Spider-Man compared to the previous two who were mostly filled with conflict and angst, and taken joy in seeing the MCU Spider-Man be a fanboy for the Avengers. In Spider-Man: Homecoming Peter’s greatest wish had been to be part of the Avengers, although he turned an offer down at the end of the film. But had he been part of the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron we can agree he would not have hesitated to be one of the group. In said film, Hawkeye told QuickSilver and Scarlet Witch that they would be part of the Avengers once they decided to fight, if only Spider-Man had been there we would have been treated to this hilarious scene.
21 Some Things Never Change
Magneto is really a special kind of idiot. While he has always had the mutantkind’s best interest at heart he has only ever used the faultiest tactics to get mutants their freedom. From X-Men (2000) to X-Men: The Last Stand Magneto kept on devising ways to ensure the victory of mutants over humans. This reached extreme levels of idiocy when Magneto manipulated a Phoenix force driven Jean Grey to destroy everything in her part. He even exclaimed “What have I done?” in utter horror when his plan went awry. He has always been an overly emotional sod as in X-Men: First Class we saw him nearly cause mutant kind’s end when multiple missiles had been directed at them thanks to Magneto’s doing.
At that point he inadvertently caused Professor X’s paralysis, although Xavier still appealed to his friend despite being in great pain. Forward over to X-Men: Days of Future Past and we had the exact same scenario. This time Magneto was an even bigger idiot as he sought to betray Wolverine–who had relayed information that Magneto’s actions would cause extinction mutants in 2023–and ruin all plans. Again Professor X was in a similar position of appealing to his once best friend. Good thing he wasn’t in Logan or an old Magneto would have been a nightmare to deal with.

20 The Sun Will Shine Again
Let’s do a recap of all Thor has lost and then agree he has had the most tragic path to Avengers: Infinity War and beyond. First Thor lost his mother in Thor: The Dark World, then after Avengers: Age of Ultron the love of life, Jane Foster, dumped him unceremoniously, after which his father passed away, followed by his evil stepsister taking over Asgard leading to Thor having to fight her. Before this, Thor lost his beloved hammer Mjolnir, had his trademark long locks butchered, was forced to fight his close friend, then had to make a decision to destroy his home world after having lost his right eye and sacrificing his sister in the process. When Thor thought his troubles were over, Thanos entered and took out his best friend Heimdall, followed by crushing the neck of his brother Loki.
Simply reading this recap should bring tears to one’s eyes.
If those tears haven’t arrived yet then consider the comic above which features the God of Thunder mourning his fallen family. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor confesses to Rocket that if he was unable to stop Thanos there would be no worst case scenario, asking “What more could I lose?” Unfortunately, he still had the hard end of the bargain as Thor was unable to prevent Thanos initiating the finger snap of doom.
19 Mutant Group Selfie!
Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the X-Men film series hasn’t portrayed their world to be a fun place to live. While in the MCU superheroes and mutants freely show their true identities without any fallout from their actions–with the exception of Captain America: Civil War–the X-Men film series has the mutants always on the run and always in a state of distress. It’s too bad we don’t get many moments of light-hearted sentiments between these characters as there is potential for comedy here. In X-Men: First Class we saw a bit of fun when Professor X started training his first students but this was mainly done to set up the tragedy that would ensue so that fans could juxtapose between the chaos and the earlier moments of camaraderie.
Most would feel the same way as this comic creator had when they sketched this picture. It features the younger X-Men, Wolverine included, taking a group photo with Quicksilver doing the honors. Going with the X-Men film series’ Quicksilver’s personality, it would be appropriate of him to instead be snapping a selfie of himself. Unfortunately, this picture will never be seen in live-action so we should appreciate this fan comic for what it is.

18 Deadpool And Domino To The Rescue
Every Marvel fan worth their salt knows by now that Cable and Thanos are played by the same guy. Josh Brolin has, in fact, jumped ship from DC to Marvel after first having starred as the titular hero in Jonah Hex, which was based off a comic by DC. If Josh can jump from one universe to another then who is stopping others from following suit? In this instance it would involve someone notorious for breaking the fourth wall on a regular basis. In the comics, Deadpool is one of Thanos’ sworn enemies as the Merc with a Mouth stole Thanos’ love interest. Had Deadpool been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe we can agree that he and Thanos would not have seen eye to eye in this continuity either.
In this comic, Deadpool and Domino leave behind Deadpool 2 on a rescue mission. They interrupt the scene from Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos flung Gamora off a cliff on Vormir to acquire the Soul Stone. Domino’s power is of luck which Deadpool utilizes by conveniently causing the Titan to trip and lose his footing down to his own demise. Had this happened in the film it would’ve been incredibly anti-climactic, but a memorable scene for sure.
17 The Fandom Is Strong With These Ones
Star Wars, Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings fans are known to don costumes of their favorite characters when attending the cinema to watch their films. It doesn’t do anything other than enhance the person’s viewing experience when dressing up as a fictional character. These films had, or in Star Wars’ case has, fans putting on these costumes because all the characters are usually in said films. In Marvel’s case, however, it is only when the Avengers films are released that their fans get a chance to watch all the superheroes in the same movie.
And so, in 2012, 2015, and 2018, people around the world witnessed ardent fans dress up as the Avengers to watch the titular team’s films.
One thing that is always present in all MCU films is the end credits sequence. Starting from Iron Man, all the movies have stingers that set up the following film in the Universe. These snippets are usually insightful, which leads to almost the entire viewing audience staying behind to watch them. On the occasion of the above picture, though, it would seem that only the “Avengers” are willing to wait all of 15 minutes to watch the end sequence.
16 Let’s Stick With English
We’ve all scratched our heads at some point in time over the realization that everyone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to understand and speak English. In Guardians of the Galaxy it was pointed out that Star-Lord had a translator chip inserted in his neck, thereby providing justification for how he understood all the other aliens. But this was a singular example that is not backed up by other examples. In Avengers: Infinity War, Ebony Maw invaded Earth to abduct Doctor Strange and easily communicated with him and Tony Stark in English. Thanos himself would converse with Tony and the rest of the Avengers in the same language later on.
But it is not only Aliens who choose to talk in English for the benefit of the viewing audience. The Avengers themselves are filled with members whose first language is something else. For instance, Natasha Romanoff is Russian, ergo she has been using English as a front this whole time. Similarly, Scarlet Witch hails from Sokovia and was brought up speaking that country’s language, but seems to have integrated herself so much in American culture that by Infinity War her accent barely remains. Thor has studied all kinds of languages and thus speaking English for him is justified. But should Vision decide to speak in his ‘Native’ language all we would hear would be binary codes.
15 Dysfunctional Family
Due to his role being the titular villain in Avengers: Age of Ultron people tend to overlook the fact that Ultron was actually the son of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Of course he was only an A.I. meaning he wasn’t an actual person, but Ultron was still a sentient being. His constant tantrums and immaturity made it evident that he was very confused on the inside. Unfortunately, being a robot capable of wiping out the entire planet meant that he chose the route of drastic solutions by attempting mass extinction. There’s the feeling between fans that had Ultron possessed some level of restraint he could have had a future.
Tony Stark’s personality was noticeable in Ultron. He was the closest thing Ultron had to a father.
This was also the cause for Ultron’s annoyance toward any likening between him and Tony. He would cut off Ulysses Klau’s arm in a fit of rage when Klau made the mistake of assuming Ultron was one of Stark’s robots. While Bruce Banner wasn’t as directly involved in making Ultron as Tony, he and Stark could be considered as Ultron’s parents. Perhaps had they given their weird family a go we would have seen the two men act as the robot’s parents and disapproved of his homicidal ways.

14 Deadpool Knows No Enchantments
A whole lot of hoopla went into determining just who could be worthy enough to lift Thor’ hammer Mjolnir. From Thor in 2011 to Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 (a span of six years) there would be discussions over who would be able to lift Mjolnir possess the power of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the end, however, no one saw it coming that Hela would be the one to not only hold the hammer, but crush it like a piece of glass. And so ended all the hope that we would see another hero wielding Mjonlir.
But had the X-Men film series been integrated into the MCU before Thor: Ragnrok we may have seen this comic become a reality. We all know that Deadpool is aware he is in a fictional universe, because of this knowledge he is able to complete feats no one else can. Case in point was the ending scene of Deadpool 2 where Wade time travelled to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and took out his Weapon XI form and even hopped into our universe and prevented Ryan Reynolds from doing Green Lantern. With all this power it isn’t hard to imagine Deadpool playing around with Mjolnir as if it were a common toy.

13 Magneto’s Method Of Teasing
As mentioned before, it is a shame we never got to see many fun filled moments between the X-Men in the X-Men film series as everyone hoped. In X-Men: First Class we had the best opportunity to witness moments of hilarity between the group as at that time the X-Men had comprised of only a handful of members who were all in the youth, opening up the opportunity for a lot of shenanigans and playfulness. Although we should be happy with what we got, there’s no one stopping fan artists from devising situations that probably did occur in-universe and we never got to see them happen.
The internet is filled with Professor X and Magneto fan fiction. More often than not these are deeply disturbing wherein fangirls have created scenarios that show these best friends as love interests. But on occasion you can find fan comics that accurately portray them as just friends such as this one. Here Professor X is seen in the look he had in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Professor X was a shadow of his former, more optimistic self and spent most of the film depressed. Had Magneto taken a stand and used his powers to motivate scissors into cutting Professor X’s hair, perhaps we would have gotten a reaction out of him sooner than later.
12 Loki Is Alive… Again
Avengers: Infinity War confirmed what everyone had speculated since the end credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok. Loki, who had survived somehow all the way from Thor to Avengers: Infinity War finally ran out of luck. He had made a deal with Thanos in The Avengers to deliver the Tesseract in exchange for the Chitauri army but had failed miserably.
One might say Loki was lucky to be imprisoned on Asgard and Sakaar after The Avengers.
This is because it had protected him from Thanos’ wrath. In Thor: The Dark World he was safe in Asgard’s dungeons as Odin would be there and on Sakaar he was far away from Thanos. All said, Loki did run into the Titan in Avengers: Infinity War where Thanos finally got the Tesseract from him and crushed Loki’s neck for his attempt at taking Thanos’ life. But Loki has been ‘deceased’ twice before. In Thor he was believed to have perished when he fell into a wormhole and in Thor: The Dark World he pretended to have been stabbed fatally. Thus, fans are clamouring for a third sleight of hand on Loki’s part and this comic imagines him being in cahoots with Valkyrie the whole time. Should this be true it is most likely that Thor will beat up his younger sibling for putting him through emotional trauma yet again.
11 Coulson’s Love For Captain America
Before The Avengers there were hardly any deceased characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Only villains had met their ends while the heroes had always survived. Phil Coulson had turned into a firm fan favorite by this point thanks to his sizable roles in Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Thor. By The Avengers he was thought to be one of the long lasting characters who would keep on making significant contributions to follow up movies. However, Coulson seemingly met his end at the hands of Loki. As revealed in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. he wasn’t permanently gone and has now been back for over 6 years on TV. Coulson will also return in film in Captain Marvel.
In The Avengers, Captain America was the only hero Coulson had not had a connection established with. This would be changed when in the film Coulson revealed himself to be a huge Captain America fanboy who turned giddy by just being around Steve Rogers. When Coulson seemingly passed away all the Avengers felt the effect from it and were pushed into the battle of New York in his memory. In his original death scene, Coulson spoke to Nick Fury a last time and this fan comic imagines him to have proclaimed his love for Captain America as his final words.

10 There’s Always Someone Smarter
Marvel pulled off introducing Wakanda to its fans in amazing fashion. Every new hero has had their entry carry something unique that lures people to the cinema. Ant-Man had his suit, Doctor Strange had the magical element, Guardians of the Galaxy were the only ones whose stories were firmly set in outer space, while Black Panther gave us Wakanada, and more importantly, Wakandan technology. It was unlike anything we had ever seen before and put Tony Stark’s technology to shame. Black Panther’s supporting characters shone as well thanks to their unique attributes. Shuri was the star of the show due to her genius qualities. She was shown to be only about 16 but still smarter than both Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Being a teenager meant she had some immodest characteristics, something she showed openly by mocking T’CHalla for his mild mannered personality.
If Shuri were to ever meet Tony, she won’t be wasting any time to let him know he’s not really all that smart compared to him. In Avengers: Infinity War we saw her throw a subtle jab at Bruce Banner for not thinking outside of the box when creating Vision. It’s certain she won’t be impressed by much of what Tony would have to show her.
9 Time To Hit The Gym
We had our first interaction between an Avenger and the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War. Thor was picked up by the guardians after Thanos blew up the ship carrying the Asgardians. Unlike the rest of the Avengers, Thor was a God whose physiology is unlike anyone has ever seen before. The guardians were all very taken by the God of Thunder, in particular Drax and Gamora. Peter Quill, being the leader of the guardians, felt threatened by the presence of Thor due to Thor being the personification of a real man, unlike the “Dude” that was Quill.
Having settled with the guardians for 4 years it is safe to assume Star-Lord stopped caring about his diet.
And so in comparison to Thor he was seen as a fat guy. Rocket, who always has an insult for everyone to go around, told Quill he was only one sandwich away from literally being fat. It’s a good thing Star-Lord didn’t take a trip to Earth to meet Captain America or he would have been baffled by the chiseled looks of another Avenger. Unfortunately Gamora met her demise in Vormir but had the guardians gone to Earth instead, we can agree that this fan comic would have come true.

8 So Much Snark, So Little Time
Another one of the more anticipated pairings was Tony Stark with Doctor Strange. Unlike other dream pairings, though, this was more hotly anticipated thanks to both characters’ actors Robert Downey Jr and Benedict Cumberbatch having portrayed Sherlock Holmes. Robert had played the character in Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows while Benedict’s version is the best one we have seen thus far in Sherlock. Thanks to his fame as Sherlock, Benedict nabbed high profile parts in many Hollywood movies like The Hobbit and Star Trek Into Darkness. But Doctor Strange remains his highest profile role as of yet.
The snark from Sherlock has carried over to Stephen Strange as well as seen in Doctor Strange and with a guaranteed interaction between Tony Stark and Strange expected in Avengers: Infinity War we excitedly awaited their scenes together. In-Universe, Pepper Potts would not be the happiest to see Doctor Strange show up to interrupt her and Tony as she had already had decades’ worth of exasperation thanks to Tony’s extreme snark. In the film, Doctor Strange did not let Tony get the better of him in dialogue thanks to his own snark in abundance. Pepper was lucky she wasn’t around to see Star-Lord join the fray as well.
