Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has the biggest roster of any game in the franchise. By the time Nintendo is done adding DLC characters, there will be more than 80 fighters to choose from. However, some players still aren’t happy. That’s due to the fact almost all of the DLC reveals so far have been underwhelming. However, that hasn’t stopped players from getting their hopes up, though. Here are some of the characters that could soon join the battle who would continue to infuriate Smash players.

Ring Fit Trainee

The first characters to be added to Smash Ultimate during the second batch of DLC announcements were from ARMS. A relatively obscure fighting game that — yes, we’re going to say it — left Smash players up in arms. Just imagine the backlash if Nintendo followed up with the addition of the Ring Fit Trainees. On the bright side, when paired with the Wii Fit Trainer they would make quite the team.

Another Damn Pokémon

Many spots on the Ultimate roster are occupied by Pokémon. Too many of those spots if you ask some players. Pikachu, Lucario, Jigglypuff, not to mention the Pokémon Trainer and his/her three Gen I starters. Adding another Pokémon at this point might push some Smash fans over the edge. However, an addition of a Pokémon introduced via Sword and Shield would certainly make sense.

More Dragon Quest

Of the six DLC characters announced so far, the addition of Hero from Dragon Quest might be the one that got Smash fans most riled up. After the addition of Persona’s Joker right off the bat, expectations were high for announcement number two. For a game like Dragon Quest —which is much more popular in Japan than other regions — to steal the spotlight did not go down well. Nintendo wants to please fans in Japan as well as the rest of the world though, so it could happen again.

Anyone From Fortnite

If there’s a game out there right now more polarizing than Fortnite, we’re yet to play it. We say polarizing, a lot of the time it feels like those who play Fortnite are the ones who hate it the most. Even the thought of how certain people would react to a Fortnite character joining the battle makes us feel so anxious that we kind of want to see it happen. Plus, come on, who wouldn’t want to see Peely versus Pac-Man?

Anyone Who Isn’t Waluigi

Although characters from non-Nintendo franchises have now entered the fray, chances are Nintendo will continue to pick from its own expansive pool whenever it has the chance. The trouble is unless they emerge from that pool with Waluigi, people are going to be mad. Seriously though, after all of these years, why no Waluigi? The popular character has been overlooked far too often in so many ways. Give him his moment in the sun already!
