E3 2020 has long been canceled due to COVID-19, but that hasn’t stopped just about every major game company from holding their own special conferences to show off their wares. As a result, the period normally reserved for E3 has now expanded well into the summer, with the most notable upcoming event being Ubisoft Forward.

So, what does everyone’s favorite French creator of tower-climbing assassins have in store for the future? We don’t know for sure, but here’s what we’d like to see during Ubisoft’s big, fancy presentation.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

As of right now, we’ve only received a smattering of news about the latest Assassin’s Creed. We know it’s the last of the trilogy that also included Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and we know it’s going to involve a whole bunch of Vikings. And if there’s Vikings, there’s going to be beards and a plethora of violent murders.

Beyond that, we haven’t gotten a lot of footage from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla aside from some pre-rendered cutscenes. We want to see the game in action and get to know Eivor, the newest main assassin in the series. Considering that it’s coming out this fall, we suspect that Ubisoft is going to be focusing pretty heavily on this Norse assassination adventure.

Oh, and we definitely want to see what a Viking rap battle looks like. Do not disappoint us Ubisoft.

Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs Legion was one of several important titles that were delayed from their initial March 2020 release date. Right now, we don’t know exactly when the latest game in the open-world hack and shoot series will arrive on both current and next-gen consoles.

If the teaser trailer for Ubisoft Forward is anything to go by it looks like it’ll be featured prominently in the livestream. We just really want a release date and maybe a teensy bit more gameplay footage so we can see what kind of mayhem we can cause in jolly old England.

Beyond Good And Evil 2

When this was announced in 2017 we were utterly confused as to what it was supposed to be. It’s now 2020 and we’re still utterly confused as to what it’s supposed to be. Is it a sequel, a prequel, a reboot, a multiplayer spinoff, or some kind of collective pipe dream that manifested itself as a game trailer?

Whatever Beyond Good Or Evil 2 is, we hope some answers are finally revealed because all we know right now is that there’s a cockney-accented monkey-man and Jade may or may not be evil. It seems like the team has some astonishingly ambitious plans for this long-awaited sequel - and when we say long-awaited we’re talking Half-Life 3 levels of waiting - and it sure would be nice to get even the slightest hint about how Beyond Good Or Evil 2 plays and when we could dare to hope to buy it.

Mario + Rabbids 2

There may be no stranger crossover then when the Rabbids invaded the Mario universe for an XCOM-esque tactical strategy game. What made it even more insane was that it worked incredibly well. The bizarre concoction of franchises and genres managed to be a highly entertaining collaboration between Nintendo and Ubisoft. Based on how well it was received, we have to assume a sequel or follow-up to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is on the way.

There have been rumors in the past that a new game featuring both Mario and the toilet-obsessed rabbit-things may be in development. If so, Ubisoft Forward would certainly be a fine time to make that big announcement and maybe even feature a Shigeru Miyamoto Zoom call cameo.

Skull And Bones

Hey, remember this one? Because it kind of seems like Ubisoft doesn’t. We haven’t heard much if anything about Skull And Bones for quite some time. Even though there may be some kind of TV adaptation in development right now, news about the game has been scarce, if not non-existent.

Hopefully, the team behind Skull And Bones has worked through whatever problems caused their rough development cycle. We’d love to hear some news about the swashbuckling adventure because while Sea Of Thieves is an enjoyable enough time, there’s always room for more pirate games in this world.

Oh, And Also, Where The Hell Is Sam Fisher?!

We’re getting our hopes up that the five games we have listed here will be key topics of discussion at Ubisoft Forward. There’s also the chance that some franchises we haven’t considered may get announcements, like a new Rayman or Far Cry game, or something with Tom Clancy’s name slapped on it. Or hey, maybe they could drag Sam Fisher out of their attic, dust off the mothballs, and make a new Splinter Cell already! Just a thought.

Thankfully, it won’t be long until we find out what’s next for this prolific developer as Ubisoft Forward goes live on Sunday, July 12 at 12PM PT. So if you want to know when you’re going to get to sail around on a big old Viking boat, you’d best tune in.
