The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released back in 2012, and almost a decade later fans are waiting for the next entry in the beloved role-playing game franchise. With a legacy like The Elder Scrolls, it’s safe to say that The Elder Scrolls VI will pay homage to past games in one way or another.
The weapons in the series carry some unique properties that players can’t get enough of. An easy way to win over fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim would be to bring over some of the coolest and most interesting weapons into The Elder Scrolls VI.
9 Mehrunes’ Razor
Some people know this weapon as The Dagger of the Final Wounds, but it’s more commonly known as Mehrunes’ Razor. This weapon is an artifact belonging to a character that played a major antagonistic role in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It was nice to see that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim featured numerous callbacks to its predecessor, and fans are hoping The Elder Scrolls VI does the same. Mehrunes’ Razor is much more than an easter egg, as it has a 2% chance to kill anything it hits instantaneously, which applies to dragons and/or other large or difficult enemies.
8 Mace Of Molag Bal
Weapons that have more than one use in combat or provide some sort of additional utility are always welcome. The Mace of Molag Bal not only deals magicka and stamina damage, but if the target is killed in 3 seconds or less their soul can fill an empty soul gem in the player’s inventory. It also happens to aesthetically look the part of the sadistic Daedric lords’ most infamous artifact, and looking cool is just as important as application, as any seasoned gamer knows.
7 Staff Of Magnus
The first of two staves on this list that should return in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the Staff of Magnus. It’s derived from the god it’s named after, and shares a special connection with the Eye of Magnus. It has a dark oak base and it seems and the top and bottom of the staff are adorned with teal-tinged gems.
It will start by draining the target’s magicka, but if they’re completed sapped of that, it will begin to drain their health instead. This makes it much more viable and sought after as it can adapt to a given situation.
6 Miraak’s Sword
Miraak’s Sword is a rather impressive weapon as it is the second lightest one-handed sword in the game while carrying the highest base damage of any weapon in its class. Players must defeat Miraak to obtain it, and upon doing so they’ll be granted the opportunity to own and wield his signature weapon. The sword can absorb stamina, which can keep the player delivering power attacks or flurries in rapid succession.
5 Chillrend
Chillrend initially sounds like the type of weapon wielded by royalty, or maybe a legendary warrior of some sort. It backs that up that idea with what it’s capable of. As its name would suggest, this sword is good for those who want to inflict frost damage and stun their enemies. Specifically, this sword will hit for 30 points of frost damage and has a chance to paralyze its target for 2 seconds. This ability can make the difference between winning or losing a rather challenging duel.
4 Dwarven Black Bow Of Fate
Any time fans of the Elder Scrolls franchise talk, the subject of dwarves (or Dwemer, as it were) is bound to come up. Whether it’s in regards to what happened to them or the lofty prospect of them being a playable race in the next game, fans can’t get enough of their mysterious machinations. The Dwarven Black Bow of Fate is one of the race’s more well-known and sought-after relics, as it has a 50% chance to absorb either health, stamina, or magicka. While the chance involved there lends a bit of chance to each shot, the gamble’s a part of the fun.
3 Ebony Blade
In terms of aesthetics, it’s hard to find a weapon that looks more like the blade of a legendary shinobi or samurai than the Ebony Blade. It can be obtained as a reward for completing the quest The Whispering Door.
The reason it looks so ancient is that it is Mephala’s signature Daedric artifact. It is said that the blade strengthens in power if the wielder kills an ally. For every friendly character killed, Mephala provides a bone-chilling line of dialogue that changes every time.
2 Drainblood Battleaxe
The Drainblood Battleaxe may be unlikely to appear in the next Elder Scrolls game simply because it’s a Nordic weapon, and the new location might be far away from the ancestral home of the Nords. This weapon’s name kind of explains why it is special — each successive hit on an enemy drains 15 points of health from them and heals its wielder.
1 Sanguine Rose
The Sanguine Rose is a staff that resembles a thorny flower and is a reward for completing one of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s most notable side quests. This staff summons a Dremora that will fight for the caster for up to a full minute. It may not be the most powerful staff or summon spell, but calling back to a beloved mission in the previous game seems like an easy-win move by the developers. Also, it’s a pretty cool feeling to fight alongside a Dremora as an ally to begin with.
