Mods, glorious mods. The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has received a variety of mods over the years, encompassing everything from crazy cat lady expansions to the Dwagonbown going UwU. More recently, however, one Redditor decided to blend a couple of mods into one in order to create a version of Skyrim that fans have dubbed, “Dark Souls 4.”

Redditor, er… Jizzdom recently shared a gameplay clip that shows a Skyrim character crossing into Souls territory. The character can be seen navigating stone corridors until he traverses the nightmare fog to inevitably meet his end. On the other side of this Soulsy fog door, a giant knight awaits. If the Gothic boss and overwhelming sense of dread wasn’t enough to convince you that Skyrim had merged with Dark Souls, then the character’s swift dodge maneuvers certainly will be.

There have been numerous mods in the past that have helped bring Skyrim closer to the Dark Souls universe. The Redditor noted in the thread that they used a combination of the Elysium mod list with Wabbajack and the acclaimed Darkend mod to create what we see in the clip. Darkend allows you to travel to the island of Pharos, which features no quest nor hand-holding (in typical Dark Souls tradition). Inspired by both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, Darkend includes a host of new enemies and presents an ancient set of weapons to be discovered.

Other Skyrim-to-Dark-Souls mods include TK Dodge, which adds a configurable dodge roll to Skyrim; Wildcat, which adds combat mechanics to make Dark Souls veterans feel at home; and the Vigilant mod, which allows you to become a Vigilant of Stendarr. There are even a slew of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice mods for the Dragonborn sim, which offer you the chance to indulge in swordplay and stealth in combat.

Skyrim is also due to receive another major mod titled Apotheosis in the near future, which received its first gameplay trailer last month. The trailer - called “The Spaces Between” - offered us a glance at a few of the mod’s locations and interactive artifacts.
