Our quick take
Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook - 3.5 / 5

To recap
From the outside the Acer Aspire S3 looks like a charmer. But open it up and the bunched-up keyboard and so-so screen resolution with equally so-so viewing angle are two big issues with this model. Performance from the Intel i7 processor and 4GB of RAM (in this particular Intel i7 model) is decent and will deal with all manner of tasks, but the S3 just doesn’t have that luxury, long-term appeal that many demanding users will expect for the £899 outlay. There’s promise here, but it needs some simple design tweaks in the keyboard and screen areas to have made it a strong competitor in the ever-growing and highly competitive Ultrabook market.
