In case anyone forgot, there’s going to be an Adventure Time game that casts Finn, Jake, and crew as pirates. And now it finally has a release date. On July 17th in the US and July 20th in Europe, fans will be able to take to the high seas in an open world RPG take on the cult Cartoon Network show. Check out the new trailer below.

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion was announced back in December with a vague “spring” release according to Eurogamer’s original report. Since then, there have been some screenshots but little news. Now, with this trailer, we know the game will release on PS4, Xbox, PC, and Switch in July.

The game’s premise is that the Land Of Ooo has been flooded. The Ice King’s home mysteriously melted, scattering his beloved penguins and causing sea levels to rise all over the place. Finn and Jake awake from a nap in a conveniently-placed boat to discover the phenomenon. From there, players will be sailing around Ooo in an adventure to discover how to set things right.

As for gameplay, it takes the form of open world exploration and RPG progression. There’s lots of sailing, the ability to form a party of various characters from the show, and use of Jake’s unique physical traits to find treasure. Battles seem to be turn-based, in the style of classic RPGs. To be more specific, publisher Bandai Namco says “Upgrade your heroes, use items, spells, potions and unique ultimate hero abilities to battle bad guys in fast-paced tactical combat.”

The game seems to be coming along nicely, with an art style that really captures that of the show. The voice cast also looks to be taken right from the cartoon. There’s also some unique additions, though, such as Marceline and Princess Bubblegum donning pirate outfits for the journey. BMO even seems to be getting in on the pirate action in the trailer. Licensed games can always be a toss up, but for now it seems Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is sailing with the wind at its back.
