With controversial Twitch streamer Alinity recently exposing her bare breast on accident live on stream, and many people upset with Twitch taking so long to ban her, the streamer is telling Twitter to stop hating on her, and start hating on Twitch.
The original clip has spread to just about every corner of the internet, most significantly Twitter, where the hate against Alinity has started to pile up. People are upset with how much Twitch lets the streamer get away with, including racism, that time she threw her cat and other wardrobe malfunctions, with many on Twitter calling Twitch’s treatment of her a double standard. Meanwhile, other streamers are receiving bans for much less.
Alinity wasn’t one to to try and deny any fair treatment from Twitch, but as one could imagine, having an inbox flooded with hate mail can probably get stressful. She was quick to snap back at the trolls calling her out, telling them to take up their problems with the platform actually responsible for doling out the punishments.
Other streamers from Twitch have joined in on criticizing her, many calling out Alinity’s constant disregard for the website’s terms of service, which is harmful for all creators across the platform. Other’s were quick to defend Alinity, saying she has just become the community’s scapegoat for Twitch.
After the initial outrage, Alinity gave herself a three day “ban,” which was really just a break from streaming to let the heat die down. But people got outraged even more at that anyway, shoving her deeper inside the Twitch community’s doghouse.
Do people have the right to be upset? Sure. But who should people be mad at, Alinity or Twitch? Just one? Both? None? Why does she keep breaking the rules anyway? Is she just the public’s scapegoat? This whole situation is a mess, and frankly, if Twitch just gave her a three day ban initially, said enough was enough and moved on, this whole thing would have been a heck of a lot cleaner.
