A leaked video teasing the start of Warzone Season 5 appears to confirm that there is indeed a loot train headed for Verdansk.
There’s nothing battle royale players like to do more than speculate as to how the game they love most will change next. As soon as something major happens, data miners are busy digging in an attempt to discover if something even bigger is around the corner. In games where change is inevitable for the title to survive, it’s to be expected but must be incredibly frustrating for the developers.
It does allow those developers to have a little fun, should they choose to do so. Popping something into a game’s code that they know data miners will find, but has nothing to do with what is coming soon to the game. It makes it incredibly difficult for those of us who are just interested in any and all news about the games we play to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Warzone developers Infinity Ward appear to have been having fun with players already, or might just be scrapping or shelving ideas in the early stages. So far rumors that the dam will burst and a nuke will hit the map have been unfounded. One of the latest stories doing the rounds is that a loot train is coming to Verdansk. You’ll believe it when you see it, you say? Well, how about when you hear it?
Streamer NICKMERCS posted footage of what appears to be marketing for Warzone Season 5. The short clip, which can be watched above, shows a helicopter flying in from the left. The arrival of the chopper is immediately followed up with the unmistakable sound of a train horn.
NICKMERCS explains that the footage was on a USB inside of a rook chess piece, perhaps teasing the arrival of Rook from Modern Warfare 2. Since the streamer has been sponsored by Activision recently, it stands to reason that he would be sent a package like the one above. As for Activision being okay with him flaunting that footage and showing it to the rest of the world, we’re not so sure. The streamer also reveals Season 5 is slated to start on August 5, 2020.
