As the water that submerged Fortnite’s island at the start of Season 3 continues to subside, more and more old locations are returning to their former glory.

The third season of Fortnite’s second chapter kicked off with a very wet bang. Midas fired up his Device at the start of Season 2 which turned the game’s storm into an intimidating wall of water. Whether that was Midas’s intention or not remains unclear. He certainly didn’t seem too happy when the wall collapsed as it led to him being consumed by a shark at the start of Season 3.

Sharks thrived at the start of the new season as almost the entire map was submerged in water. For the first three weeks, that’s how things remained. However, at the start of week four, the water began to subside. Risky Reels returned with nothing but seaweed to act as a lasting memory of the fact it was once completely underwater.

Another week later and the water that once covered the island continues to drain away. The point of interest returning to the fray this week is Craggy Cliffs, which has been hidden beneath the waves for the entirety of this season up until now. Pleasant Park is also pretty much back to its former glory, and no longer requires a combination of swimming and jumping on Crash Pads to get around it.

The most annoying change, especially to players who enjoy the goings-on at The Authority, is the focal point of the map is now even harder to get into. Turns out the water around The Authority was pretty deep, and previously came up to the top of what are very high walls. Players will now need to build to get in, fly in on a Choppa, or simply land within its walls at the start of a match.

Other parts of the map that have changed include The Shark, Dirty Docks, Holly Hedges, Rickety Rig, and Slurpy Swamp. A lot of the roads in and around those places appear to be almost clear at this point, indicating that the long-awaited addition of drivable cars to Fortnite is incoming. Data miners believe that could happen as early as this week.
