Good news for those holding onto hope for a VALORANT beta drop: all Twitch streamers who are playing the game will now have drops enabled. There is no need to be careful or selective about who you watch anymore; If a streamer is in the VALORANT category, drops will be enabled on their stream automatically.
Although this can seem relatively insignificant, Twitch users have had issues with identifying fakes throughout the past week. When word got around about VALORANT’s ridiculous viewership numbers, streamers of all types tried to cash-in on the exposure, lying about having drops enabled. The only true way to tell was by checking on the official “drops enabled” icon, but many poor souls simply relied on the (often false) titles of streamers.
The most infamous case of deception came from Dr Disrespect himself, who was not a part of Riot’s special gameplay event. Consequently, he didn’t have drops enabled on his stream, yet didn’t hesitate to prank an army of hopeful fans. Considering his status as one of the biggest personalities on Twitch, it was all-to-easy for viewers to trust the fake claims in his titles. He received some heavy backlash as a result, but Dr Disrespect has made it very clear that he doesn’t care at all.
Those worries can be safely buried, however, as anyone streaming VALORANT on Twitch will now give their viewers a chance to grab access to the closed beta.
