Indie developer Amanita Design has announced that its next title, Creaks, will be hitting PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on July 22, 2020. Currently available for Apple Arcade subscribers, the horror-esque puzzle platformer marks a first for Amanita in that it isn’t a point-and-click adventure. This is something more akin to classic Prince of Persia in design.
Amanita didn’t discuss price, but it stands to reason that the game will be between $10-15. Most of the studio’s other titles go for that on Steam and consoles. Considering each of its past games has been well worth digging into, that seems like a fair price point.
If you want to get a better idea of how the game will play, you can check out the launch trailer here. The soundtrack for Creaks was composed by Scottish musician Joe Acheson and features collaborations with many different artists. One of those happens to be longtime Amanita pal Tomas Dvorak. The artwork is all hand-drawn, as well, which makes Creaks look stunningly beautiful on the right display.
I might be a little bias in that I love Amanita’s previous stuff, but Creaks has all of the right ingredients. If you feel the game is for you, I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a shot next week.
