Chances are those of you in the UK were annoyed after learning the PS5’s release date was a week later for you than it was in the US and other parts of the world. The reality soon set in that the next-gen console is in such high demand that for most of us, it didn’t really matter when the release date was. Stock sold out so quickly that far more people have been left without one than with.

That’s the fault of a few factors. Not only that there isn’t enough supply to meet demand, but also because of scalpers buying up PS5s using bots and software. One group in the UK claims to have bought and resold as many as 3500 PS5s, probably for twice their RRP. Even those who managed to bag a pre-order back in September were left wondering what went wrong come release day.
