Pedigreed classics like Eureka Seven, Samurai Champloo, and FLCL are under thirty bucks, which is a great way to introduce yourself to some beloved fandom gems on the cheap.
Also remarkably cheap are some modern classics from the past decade, like No Game No Life, Psycho-Pass, and SSSS.Gridman - all stellar shows with huge fan followings, and great introductions to the medium for newcomers. Well, outside of the weird and bad fan service in No Game No Life’s early episodes. Turns out, panty shots of an eleven-year-old are bad!
On a personal note, Spice & Wolf, Lucky Star, and Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan are all an insanely good bargain right now. These are shows that are a bit more niche, but more than worth the money for people trying to expand their horizons and try out new stuff. Speaking as somebody who bought Lucky Star volume to volume when I was a lass, the prospect of owning the whole show on Blu Ray for as much as four episodes used to cost is mind-boggling.
So if you’re looking to build your physical collection, you could do so much worse than what’s on offer right now. And if you’re not looking to clutter up your house with Blu Rays, why not check your email - PlayStation might’ve just sent you a free two-month sub to Funimation Premium!
