Ever since the Halloween update’s release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have been pumpkin farming to their heart’s content.
Halloween items can be purchased at the upgraded Nook’s Cranny. However, the items are greatly overpriced and only one item can be bought per day. Thankfully, the ability to grow their own pumpkins has allowed players to craft Spooky Set Halloween DIY items. Pumpkins come in 4 different colors, orange pumpkins are used for crafting, whereas green, white, and yellow are used to customize Halloween items.
And, even outside the Spooky Set, there are some recipes that fit the Halloween theme perfectly. Meaning that with a bit of creativity, some ordinary DIY items can be used and look just as fitting.
10 Western-Style Stone
Cemeteries are one of the creepiest places to visit. This makes the Western-Style Stone item the perfect DIY craftable for Halloween.
Mixing up a couple of Western-Style Stones with a few black roses and some overgrown weeds in a remote part of town is an easy way to create an island’s very own cemetery. And who knows, maybe Wisp will wander in there from time to time.
The eerie vibe of the place is sure to creep out the island’s visitors during this spooky season.
9 Spooky Standing Lamp
The Spooky Standing Lamp is quite a versatile item. Like the other Spooky Set DYI items, it comes in 4 different colors: orange, white, yellow, and green. However, not only is it used as a source of light, but it also works well as a decorative item around the island.
With the light turned off, if it’s placed in front of a villager’s house, it will look just like a Halloween candy holder, for each trick-or-treater to take a treat. The ways in which items can be used depends on the player’s creativity and imagination.
8 Spooky Candy Set
In terms of decorative items, the Spooky Candy Set item is awesome for gamers that are looking to make their island neighborhood’s Halloween ready.
This fun item is ideal for players that want to give themselves and their villagers trick-or-treat candy baskets. It’s a great decoration to place in their front yards, perhaps on top of a stool, low table, or hay bed.
However, it doesn’t only require pumpkins to craft. It also requires three candies, you can only acquire one per day at the Nook’s Cranny, unfortunately. So make sure to stock up on those as well.
7 Iron And Stone Fence
Fencing is important when it comes to decoration in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The Iron and Stone Fence is the right type of fencing for those trying to spook-up their islands. It can be applied like any other fence, but in a certain setting it can give off an eerie vibe.
Halloween is all about being spooky, creepy, and scary. Fencing off an area with the iron and stone fence can really create a creepy vibe around what’s behind it. Especially because of its iron spikes.
6 Tiki Torch
The Tiki Torch DIY item can be used for various different things. It has a few decorative purposes, depending on what the player is going for. The Tiki Torch has been used by fans as a light source for beach bars, zen gardens, museum entrances.
When used as an interior decoration this item can make a plain room look like a creepy dungeon with the right wallpaper. Although it lights up a room, the light it provides isn’t too bright, just enough to make a visitor shiver.
5 Spooky Scarecrow
One of the most basic DIY recipes players can learn in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the Scarecrow. Now with the latest Halloween event update, there’s a new scarecrow DIY. A Spooky Scarecrow.
They are a fun way to decorate the player’s farms. And with the addition of pumpkins to the game what could be better for a pumpkin patch than a Spooky Scarecrow?
With only 3 orange pumpkins and 4 pieces of wood, it’s a simple craftable item that gives the island a bit more of a spooky vibe.
4 Spooky Lantern Set
One of the cutest Spooky Set DIYs items, the Spooky Lantern Set consists of a small patch of hay, next to a large pumpkin and a smaller pumpkin. It fits the Halloween vibe and it can usually be used as a seasonal Fall decoration. It can be purchased for 5,900 bells at Nook’s Cranny or crafted with 4 orange pumpkins and 4 clumps of weeds.
This item can be placed by itself or with another object on top of it. Items such as a Spooky Candy or a pumpkin lantern are perfect examples of items to use for this, especially if the player is looking for an extra dose of Halloween.
3 Spooky Tower
The Spooky Tower is a simple item but it definitely helps increase the Halloween vibes. Players that have already finished their entire islands can easily craft and customize them, and then place a few Spooky Towers around their towns.
This works particularly well with shops. It gives each shop a bit of personality. It makes it feel like it’s more than just a building. That perhaps Sable, excited for Halloween, stopped working for a second to carve some pumpkins and placed them on top of each other.
2 Kettle Bathtub
New Horizons has a few Halloween items as part of the Spooky Set. Its predecessor, New Leaf, had the Creepy set, which could also be found in City Folk. It consisted of a Creepy Clock, Bat Stone, Coffin, Skeleton, Crystal, Statue, Stone, Wall, Carpet, and Cauldron.
Unfortunately, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons none of these items are available. So, and although it may seem like an ordinary item, the Kettle Bathtub DIY item can make a great substitute for the Creepy Cauldron. By using it it’s easy to make a witch’s lair.
1 Spooky Table & Chair
The Spooky Table & Chair DIYs work best together. These items are a must for this event.
A Spooky Table with a couple of Spooky Chairs around it make a great pumpkin carving station for the island’s inhabitants. Or it can make for an incredible picnic location for everyone to enjoy, players can even pair it with a basket and a couple of acorn and pine DIY items.
With so many interesting DIYs available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s a blast to decorate the island and ready it up for the big event on the 31st of October.
