Everyone wants to live a fantasy life where they are flush with cash. In Animal Crossing, that’s a pretty easy feat to achieve, given the access the player has to many money-making ventures. But, if you’re looking to stay thrifty, there are quite a few items that will elevate your house or island for a bargain.
Not every item in Animal Crossing is cheap. There are quite a few high-priced items. But you don’t need to break the bank to look fancy in your tropical getaway. Here are some items that look expensive or fancy, but are actually dirt-cheap.
10 Monstera
Every space looks nice when some plants are added to it. And, anyone who has spent time scrolling through the houseplants tag on Instagram knows that the fanciest-looking plant is a Monstera. These interesting-looking plants grow quite large and make every space look really nice and floral.
Luckily for you, the Monstera is available in a wide variety of colors — and for cheap. These pretty plants will only cost you 1,700 Bells. Grab it in white for the fanciest look.
9 Diner Neon Sign
It’s a ton of fun to reupholster old diner furniture. Those beautifully tacky diner seats and red-and-chrome tables are a fantastic choice for many interior design layouts. The grand-pappy of all diner furniture, though, is a large, flashy sign, perfectly nostalgic and full of kitschy memories of old diners.
Luckily, one can be yours in a variety of color combinations for a measly 3,900 Bells. This flashy sign is sure to make your island look welcoming and, to be honest, pretty rad.
8 Stately Wall
Sometimes, the right wallpaper is all you need to do the trick. There are actually quite a few wallpapers and flooring options that will elevate your house’s interior, but the best amongst them (if you’re going for that “expensive” look) is the Stately Wall.
This gorgeous wallpaper makes any room look like the marble interior of a palace lobby. The classic columns and stark white palette are incredible. It’s yours for 2,450 Bells.
7 High-End Stereo
If you’re looking for something high-end, this item has it right in the name. The High-End Stereo, despite its name, is only 10,000 Bells. That’s less than the cost of some fish and bugs.
This sound system will make any home look like the residence of someone who has money and great taste. Every movie and song sounds better through a fancy sound system. Catch yourself an uncommon fish, sell it, and treat yourself to this beautiful appliance.
6 Safe
Nobody keeps their cheap, common stuff in a safe. Safes are exclusively used for expensive items and valuables — jewels, money, and more. So, if you walk into someone’s home and they have a large safe present, you know they’re of rich blood.
Luckily, you don’t actually need to keep anything in the safe. It can just be a decoration that makes your neighbors jealous, and at 3,600 Bells, it’s a steal.
5 Shark Models
Imagine having a life-sized model of a terrifying Great White Shark. In Animal Crossing, that’s entirely possible — and cheap! Technically, you don’t have to pay a single Bell for these items.
If you talk to C.J., the resident fishing expert of New Horizons, he can build you a model of any fish you bring him three of. This means you can get a Great White Shark model (or any other shark, or fish!) to greet your visitors with ferocity. Sure, you’re losing the Bells you’d get for selling the fish otherwise, but it’s still technically a free item.
4 Climbing Wall
All of the fanciest recreation centers have climbing walls. Going for a rock climb is a gruelling physical activity that can get anyone in shape, or even just provide something entertaining for you to try. Luckily, in the wonderful world of Animal Crossing, you can do this from your very own home.
For the low, low price of only 4,300 Bells, a Climbing Wall is all yours. Additionally, the backs of them look like panel walls, and many people use them as such.
3 Kimono Stand
Sometimes finding a cheaper version of a luxury item is the way to go. That’s why people buy knock-off designer handbags. Get all the appearance of the real thing for a fraction of the price tag!
There’s an item this can be done with in New Horizons. The Elaborate Kimono Stand, at a whopping 220,000 Bells, is surely a nice accent piece. But, there’s a cheaper version. The regular Kimono Stand, which is slightly different in appearance, is only a mere 3,200 Bells.
2 Fireplace
Ah, the dreams of curling up with a hot chocolate in a ski chalet in front of a brick fireplace. We all know fireplaces are reserved for houses that cost a bit more than average. The mantel above a fireplace is the perfect image of the upper-middle-class dream.
Luckily, you don’t have to shell out for a fireplace in Animal Crossing. Get cozy for the low price of only 5,900 Bells.
1 Pinball Machine
Ever wanted to be a pinball wizard? In real life, you’ll need to track down the ever-disappearing pinball arcades or shell out thousands of dollars for your own machine. In Animal Crossing, however, you won’t be forking over as much cash.
The Pinball Machine in New Horizons is available for just 2,700 Bells. This is shockingly cheap, and it comes in a few different colors. It’s too bad you can’t fully play it, however.
