Every villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is unique. They all look distinctively different, even among the same species. Most importantly, however, they each have one of the available personality types, one of which is the sporty and athletic jock personality. Villagers of this type tend to be quite energetic and hyped.

Jocks aren’t, unfortunately, the most popular villager type. They tend to be a bit one-dimensional. Some of them are even a bit delusional when it comes to their strength and appearance. It’s hard to distinguish jocks from cranky villagers in general, and sometimes the jocks look nothing like the athletes they claim to be, making for some hilarious meme fodder.

9 Poor Little Dom

Dom is a sheep villager who has become extremely popular, and there’s no question about why. He just looks adorable with his big expressive eyes and fluffy white wool. It’s actually impossible to imagine him as the jock that he so adamantly insists he is with his talk of muscle and strength.

There’s definitely a fun disconnect between what he believes he looks like and what we see him as. Poor little Dom. Maybe one day he’ll achieve his dreams of bulging muscles and raw physical strength. Besides, who knows what all that wool hides underneath?

8 Strong Biceps, Soft Heart

Jocks tend to come off as very tough individuals, not just in terms of physical strength but also mentally. After all, it takes some real fortitude to train that hard every day on the island and stay motivated to keep in shape. Well, the truth is a bit different: they have soft hearts, too.

They also get upset and sensitive about unfortunate events on the island. With that in mind, make sure to show some love and support to your resident jock villagers! They’re probably starved for some affection.

7 Finally, The Jock Look Is Complete

One funny fact about the jock villagers is that none of them actually have visible muscles that would give them away as jocks. How come their training isn’t paying off? It must be something with their routine, or maybe they just don’t actually train at all.

That doesn’t matter, luckily, because you can just gift your jock villagers an instant-muscles suit. What could be better than this for an aspiring weight lifting jock? They’ll instantly achieve their dreams, no hard work needed.

6 Expectation Vs Reality

This is a hilarious take on self-perception being completely off when it comes to jocks. We all know every single jock villager is a cute little animal with their own quirky expressions and designs. Most of them have absolutely nothing to do with muscles or toughness.

Still, within their minds, they really are the strong heroes they imagine themselves to be. It’s a form of confidence (or delusion) that’s almost admirable. That’s the kind of energy everyone needs when their self-confidence reaches the lowest of lows. Besides, A JJBA reference is always appropriate.

5 Fitness For Life

Most other villager types don’t obsess over a single hobby or topic as much as the jocks do. Sure, peppy villagers often talk about celebrities and music, but it’s not nearly as bad as the jock villagers constantly bringing up workouts and muscles every single time you talk to them.

It definitely seems like there’s nothing else in the lives of Animal Crossing jocks. You might see them fishing or watering flowers every once in a while, but as soon as they’re spoken to it’s back to blabbering on and on about fitness.

4 Looks Can Be Deceiving

Since these villager personality types in the game are based on real-world archetypes often seen in people, it can be quite funny trying to imagine what a jock villager, who happens to be a rooster, would look like in real life.

How would a rooster be a weight lifter? A rooster doesn’t even have proper arms! It’s why we have gems like these, roosters with buff baby arms, that take us close enough to the imaginary concept of an animal who also happens to be a jock.

3 Wholesome Bros

As much as we like to complain about jocks, no one can deny they’re also incredibly adorable and wholesome at times. They embody the typical, tough, and masculine bro-type personality, but despite that, they never behave in a toxic manner. On the contrary, they can be quite caring.

Not only will jocks compliment you for your own body (even though you haven’t worked out), they’ll also give you a nice little gift such as a shirt or a DIY card just because they care about you. What could be sweeter than that?

2 The Jock Routine

One thing that’s a bit lacking in Animal Crossing is the idle routine the villagers have on the island. The routines should be a bit more specific to their villager types, but it’s actually not that uncommon for players to build a gym for their jock villagers, only to never see them interact with any of the objects.

Instead, jocks will walk around doing absolutely nothing most of the day and then go home to snack on a sandwich or a doughnut.

1 Muscles Are A Way Of Life

Even when discussing other topics with jock villagers, they always somehow manage to bring up muscles or workouts. To them, even the brain a muscle that needs to be trained just like any other muscle on the body. It’s a funny little detail, but after a while, it really does get incredibly tedious.

There are other things in life worth discussing, and not just muscles. This lack of substance would easily drive anyone to their limits, so if you ever find yourself frustrated at the one-dimensional personality of your jock villager, rest assured you’re not alone in that sentiment.
