In the world of Animal Crossing custom designs, the possibilities are endless. If you can dream it, you can do it, and there are a lot of people out there who are really doing it. From wedding dresses to bowls of ramen, Animal Crossing’s resident artists are earning their virtual keep.

If you don’t think you can become a master of custom designs, you’re totally free to use the designs of other players, provided they give out the code. If you’re looking for some inspiration or just a code to download a new outfit, here are some of the best that have been spotted around the web.

10 Wedding Dresses

With a global pandemic keeping people stuck at home, many events have been canceled the world over. As a result, many people have had to cancel or postpone graduations, weddings, birthday parties, and more. Luckily, the world of Animal Crossing has been used very successfully to host small, virtual versions of these events.

If you want to host your wedding in-game, you’ll need a dress. Luckily, some talented designers have created some great options. Consider this classic design by u/macaronicataroni on Reddit.

9 Matching Villagers

With hundreds of available villagers, there are quite a few that fans think are great in terms of unique designs. Take Merengue, who looks like a piece of strawberry shortcake, or the terrifying Pietro, who is a colorful clown.

If there’s a villager that steals your heart with their design, consider an outfit that looks like theirs! Matching one of your faves can be a cute design choice. Reddit user u/clefairylynn made an outfit to perfectly match Merengue, and it’s super cute.

8 Powerpuff Girls

Sugar, spice, and everything nice may not be objects from which you can make an outfit, but if you blend them together you might accidentally create three young girls who fight crime. These girls are, of course, the Powerpuff Girls, who have iconic matching outfits that spark nostalgia for many.

Reddit user u/kittyopuppy captured that nostalgia perfectly with these three Powerpuff Girls dresses, complete with matching eyes and hair. Dress up like Bubbles, Blossom, or Buttercup and start saving Townsville from Mojo Jojo.

7 Food Hats

There’s something about the shape of the Brimmed Hat custom template that makes people think “food!” This design has been used to create a wide variety of dishes, thanks to its shape that somewhat resembles a plate and bowl if designed right.

Some players have gone the ramen route, creating a bowl with delicious-looking broth and noodles, like Reddit user u/rainosma, while others have made flans of varying flavors, like u/rais0n-detre.

6 Classic 90s Merch

Several of the most recent decades have an iconic bit of fashion design, like the ’70s and ’80s. The ’90s, however, are not typically associated with great fashion choices overall. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t rock some classic 90s looks in Animal Crossing.

From the puffy retro Nuptse jackets of ‘96 by u/GoobyOfPls to the classic Patagonia camping sweaters made by u/maplehoneys, you can send yourself back to the decade of the Fresh Prince and Saved by the Bell with these classic looks.

5 Recreating Real-Life Faves

If you love an outfit in real life, why not translate it into Animal Crossing so the virtual version of you can rock it? Many players have done exactly this, creating pixelated versions of their favorite sweaters or a cute dress they saw in a magazine somewhere.

Reddit user u/_sarahgeddon did exactly this — recreating a cute black cat jacket in the game. If you can’t go shopping or afford something you like, why not live vicariously through your islander?

4 Paya

There are a few different characters from other video games that garner a lot of love for their looks. Paya from Breath of the Wild is just one example of this, sporting a fun red and white tunic that resembles Sheikah design motifs.

Using a bit of face paint and a sweater, u/Celestre recreated a perfect version of Paya’s look in Animal Crossing. If you want to create one of your favorite characters, it’s usually pretty straightforward!

3 Celeste and Blathers

Two people in Animal Crossing that are consistently beloved for their looks are Blathers and Celeste. These two brown owls have a nice argyle/checkerboard design on the front of their body and cute accents elsewhere, like Celeste’s pink bow.

Many people have created versions of Celeste and Blathers’ designs as custom outfits, and they’re always fantastic. One of the best is u/cloud_fluff, who made beautiful matching dresses for the two owls.

2 Axe Murderer

Some designs are a little less on the “wholesome” side and a little more on the “comical” side. This is the case with the popular axe murderer design by u/Feather_Dragon, which makes it look like you’ve brutally murdered… something — or at least hacked it up.

The blood splatter on the face and dress and the crazy eyes are sure to keep your villagers at bay. If you’re looking to frighten friends and foes alike, being covered in someone else’s blood is definitely the way to do it.

1 Kimonos

One of the most popular design choices has been kimonos. They’ve been created by hundreds of players in countless different colors, designs, and patterns. They often match perfectly with bamboo forests and imperial fencing, giving off traditional design vibes.

Since the designs for kimonos can be so diverse, a pretty and comfortable outfit can be made for almost any theme you can think of. Consider cherry blossoms on a backdrop of a starry sky, or go for a simpler design with a solid color.
