Creating unique and entertaining places to live has always been a staple of the Animal Crossing franchise. With themed furniture and new ways to personalize and customize specific pieces, the possibilities are endless. A cozy and zen theme, like that of @slusheex’s, is quite popular and is taking the main lead in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Villagers also play a big role in individual players’ experience. Each villager has their own style and personality, gaining them fans and adoration. So much so that artists create Animal Crossing Villager merchandise of all kinds. These are big factors in creating the perfect island, so let’s see which villagers would fit in with an earth-toned theme!

10 Fauna

The first thing some people may think of when they imagine a natural, foresty piece of land is wild deer grazing the ground. Fauna could be all that and more! Well, maybe not the chewing at the ground part.

Her warm brown colors and wooly coat she is first equipped with help tie together any earth-tones you want on your island. With a Normal personality type and being an Aries at heart, she is one of the must-haves.

9 Coco

At first glance, Coco may be off-putting to some people due to her hollow, gaping eye-sockets, and lack of actually being an animal, but she has caught many hearts.

Her beige color and green dress go well with a natural-zen island idea. Coco’s personality type is Normal and she is a Pisces. Calming personalities would fit a soothing vacation well.

8 Ozzie

Ozzie has been a long time villager in the Animal Crossing franchise. Being labeled a Lazy villager who enjoys eating and soaking up the sun. In New Horizons, well… Let’s just say he was that kid in grade school that always showed people bugs.

This Taurus koala is like a little kid (might explain his interior design) who just wants to watch ladybugs crawl on his hand and share fries with his best friends. Bugs will definitely be around your island so better to have someone around to befriend and catch them!

7 Leopold

You’re gonna need a king of the jungle if you want to keep your island raw and cozy! Leopold is a smug and intelligent… Well, you guessed it, Leo.

He is a man, or lion, of high class who knows his place above others but still remains respectable. With his beige fur and grass-like mane, he would fit right in for an earth-toned island.

6 Weber

Little brown ducks mesh into the Japanese, cozy idea that’s on the table here. There is a handful of them in the game and one of them happens to be Weber!

Weber is a Lazy Cancer with a brown color palette to his character design. Having a duck walking around the shoreline will surely add a depth of realism if anything else!

5 Zell

You can never have enough deer-like characters on your island! Zell has a beautifully interesting style with his jagged horns and two-toned fur.

A lot of the deer (or gazelle) villagers in Animal Crossing offer a more natural approach to design, unlike that of purple penguins and such. Zell is a Smug Gemini sure to add uniqueness and character to your island.

4 Deli

Make way for another Gemini, ladies and gentlemen. Deli has a Lazy personality type and is a cute brown-toned monkey.

If you’re in North America (or anywhere Western, really) monkeys may not be your first thought when thinking of wild animals in your area that you’d like to see in the game. It’s time to think outside the box!

3 Maple

Maple is another Normal villager. She is an extremely adorable Gemini cub with flushed cheeks. Put a cozy sweater on her and you’ve done it! What more could you want when it comes to a warm and inviting island?

A sweet cub walking around, with brown fur to help, will be the cherry on top for your earth-toned island.

2 Nan

You may be tired of seeing browns and beiges. Well, Nan is here to the rescue! She is of a deep grey with pink little freckles. She has a Normal personality trait that makes her come off as sweet and inviting.

There will never be a day where you feel down with Nan on your island. Having a thoughtful Virgo around is ideal for your island!

1 Katt

Katt is a Sisterly villager that will become your BFF in an instant! Because of the shape of her eyes and her interesting (to say the least) fangs, some might think she’s a Cranky villager. But once you meet Katt, you’ll feel brave enough to take on anything. Even a tarantula.

This Taurus has got your back in life! If you want a relaxed, sweet island full of supportive villagers, she’s the one for you.
