Tired of catching the same old fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Well, good news! It’s a new month, which means new aquatic creatures to drag to the surface and confine to an exhibit inside Blathers’ museum. What’s on the way to your island’s waters? Let’s find out by looking at all the new ocean-dwelling additions for August.
What’s New This Month?
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, where it’s currently summer, there will be four new kinds of sea life to reel in. There’s not much going on for the Southern Hemisphere as it’s still winter and fish are notorious for hating the cold.
This month will see the arrival of a variety of underwater animals that don’t quite qualify as fish. First is the Soft-shelled Turtle, which can be found in rivers and may be the most valuable new inclusion, selling for 3,750 bells. Next is the Ray, which is valued at 3,000 bells and can be found in the sea. There’s also the Moray Eel, another sea-dweller, worth 2,000 bells. Finally, there’s the Flatworm, which can be found by diving to the bottom of the ocean and only retails for a measly 700 bells.
The Soft-shelled Turtle and the Ray are both available at opposing parts of the day, as the turtle - as well as the Flatworm - can be found from 4 PM to 9 AM. The Ray can be caught between 4 AM to 9 PM. The Moray Eel, on the other hand, can be acquired throughout the whole day, which should be a delight for all the major Moray Eel fans out there.
As for what’s leaving the waters of New Horizons, in the Northern Hemisphere, we’ll see the departure of the Killifish, Frog, Giant Snakehead, Napoleonfish, and Squid. As for the Southern Hemisphere, only the Pond Smelt and the Blowfish will be going away for a while. Hopefully, you’ve already delivered these fish to Blathers’ museum, otherwise you’re out luck for quite a few months.
Catch Them Before They’re Gone!
These new fish and underwater creatures will be available to catch from August 1st onward. They’ll be sticking around until the fall, so as long as you hop to it you should be able to find them before they disappear.
