We’re just getting started with the summer months of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the introduction of sharks into the ecosystem last month, July sees a cut back on how many new seaborne critters get introduced. This is likely to be the smallest number you’ll see in the game if you’ve been playing since release (which was March).

If you’re just getting the game now, you’ll actually have quite a lot of fish to catch. The July specific ones, though, are not that numerous. You might be able to knock these out in a single afternoon, save for how annoyingly rare the Ocean Sunfish is. That stupid Suckerfish just loves pretending to be a shark.

Without further delaying, here are the list of new fish specific to July in New Horizons.

  • Sweetfish - Located in rivers all day with a medium-sized shadow. Napoleonfish - Located in the sea between 4:00 am and 9:00 pm with a huge shadow. Puffer Fish - Located in the sea all day with a medium-sized shadow. Ocean Sunfish - Located in the sea between 4:00 am and 9:00 pm with a huge finned shadow.

If that wasn’t enough, you’ll have another opportunity to catch the Blue Marlin. He’ll be returning until September and can be caught all day off of the pier. Look for the huge shadow.

As with other rare fish, you’ll want to bring bait when going for the Napoleonfish and Ocean Sunfish. They are pretty uncommon, though the Ocean Sunfish is more so. Surprisingly, it only sells for 4,000 bells while the Napoleonfish goes for 10,000.

If you haven’t yet caught any of the sharks, they’ll still be populating the waters during July. Those fish won’t be leaving until October, so you’ve got a few more months to rack up some easy money. Trying to avoid the godforsaken Suckerfish is the real issue.

However you slice it, July isn’t that heavy of a month if you’ve been keeping up. The real dump of new critters is with the bugs, which has its own list for you to peruse. July will also see the introduction of deep-sea fish, but we don’t know what is available when just yet.
