Every month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the bugs that are available for players to catch changes. So, unless you mess with your Switch’s internal clock and participate in a little time-traveling, some of the bugs available on your island will soon be gone. In the Northern Hemisphere, 21 of the 80 bugs in the game will be leaving, while the Southern Hemisphere is only losing three of the available critters.

Here is a handy guide to those bugs that are migrating away and how to add them to your Critterpedia before they are gone.

Northern Hemisphere 

Common Bluebottle: Available 4am - 7pm everywhere. Returning in April.

Great Purple Emperor: Available 4am - 7pm everywhere. Retuning in May.

Brown Cicada: Available 8am - 5pm on trees. Returning in July.

Robust Cicada: Available 8am - 5pm on trees. Returning in July.

Giant Cicada: Available 8am - 5pm on trees. Returning in July.

Evening Cicada: Available 4am - 8am and 4pm - 7pm on trees. Returning in July.

Cicada Shell: Available all day and all night on trees. Returning in July.

Jewel Beetle: Available all day and all night on tree stumps. Returning in April.

Blue Weevil Beetle: Available all day and all night on palm trees. Returning in July.

Scarab Beetle: Available 11pm - 8am on trees. Returning in July.

Drone Beetle: Available all day and all night on trees. Returning in June.

Saw Stag: Available all day and all night on trees. Returning in July.

Miyama Stag: Available all day and all night on trees. Returning in July.

Giant Stag: Available 11pm - 8am on trees. Returning in July.

Cyclommatus Stag: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Golden Stag: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Giraffe Stag: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Horned Dynastid: Available 5pm - 8am on trees. Returning in July.

Horned Atlas: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Horned Elephant: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Horned Hercules: Available 5pm - 8am on palm trees. Returning in July.

Southern Hemisphere

Rajah Brooke’s Birdwing: Available 8am - 5pm everywhere. Returning in October.

Damselfly: Available all day and all night everywhere. Returning in May.

Dung Beetle: Available all day and all night on the ground (rolling snowballs). Returning in June.

Come September 1, these critters will be long gone so be sure to craft your faithful net and get to filling out that Critterpedia while you can!
