2020 is finally entering its final month, and as we celebrate that very welcome fact Animal Crossing: New Horizons is bringing in a bunch of new critters for us to look forward to.
As usual, the batch of new creatures entering the game will differ depending on which hemisphere you’re playing from. Below, you’ll find complete lists of the new fish, sea creatures, and bugs coming to the game from December 1, for Northern and Southern hemisphere islands.
Remember, these aren’t the only creatures that will be available, they’re simply the new additions joining the selection of species already on your island. Also remember that after catching your creatures, you’ll be able to donate them to the museum or sell them if you’re a little low on Bells!
New Fish
As you can see, there are a fair number of new fish on their way to New Horizons this festive season. Specifically, Northern hemisphere players will be welcoming five new fish species, while Southern hemisphere folks are getting a whole fourteen!
Remember, to catch fish all you need to do is get your hands on a fishing rod and cast your line near dark silhouettes (which indicate a lurking critter) in ponds, rivers, or around the shoreline of your island.

New Bugs
Three new bugs species are migrating to Northern hemisphere islands in December, and six new species in the Southern hemisphere.
To grab any of these guys, you’ll need your trusty hand-held net, a dose of patience, and likely a bit of stealth as some tend to be rather skittish.
Emperor butterfly - Location: Flying | Times: 5 PM-8 AM | Price: 4,000 Bells Rajah Brooke’s birdwing - Location: Flying | Times: 8 AM-5 PM | Price: 2,500 Bells Dung beetle - Location: Rolling snowballs along the ground | Times: All day | Price: 3,000 Bells

New Sea Creatures
It’ll be a relatively quiet time on the new sea creature front next month, with only one new critter arriving on Northern hemisphere islands, and two on Southern hemisphere islands.
Catching sea creatures in New Horizons works a bit differently compared to fish. To do so, you will first need a Wet Suit, because you’re going diving! Once you’ve equipped it, dive into the ocean and watch out for bubbles and shadowy silhouettes. When you find one, dive down, and perhaps you’ll emerge with one of the following:
Lobster - Swimming speed: Fast | Shadow Size: Large | Times: All day | Price: 4,500 Bells
Gazami crab - Swimming speed: Slow | Shadow Size: Medium | Times: All day | Price: 2,200 Bells Tiger prawn - Swimming speed: Medium | Shadow Size: Small | Times: 4 PM-9 AM | Price: 3,000 Bells
All these creatures will be hanging around your respective islands for the whole month of December, after which some might leave, others will stay, and new species will be arriving to usher in the new year!
