Since Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s release, gamers have likely discovered a wide array of bugs on their tropical island paradise. While it’s good to donate some of these critters to Blathers to help fill out his museum exhibits, sometimes the best reason to capture some creepy crawlies is simply to sell them to make a few more bells. If that is your main motivation for bug-hunting then you’re likely familiar with the NPC Flick who’ll pay you way more than Timmy and Tommy for your stash of scorpions.
Those who are well-acquainted with everyone’s favorite bug collecting chameleon are in for a treat. Starting tomorrow, Flick will be hosting the Bug-Off Event, which will give players a whole new incentive for swinging their nets at every dragonfly they see.
What Is The Bug-Off Event?
The Bug-Off Event is a special event that’s held during the dog days of summer. So that means it’s happening right now for the Northern Hemisphere. You can expect to see Flick on the fourth Saturday of the month for the next four months. That means the first Bug-Off begins June 27th, while the last one for this year will occur on September 26th. As for the Southern Hemisphere, their warmer months are closer to the end of the year. That means they won’t see their first Bug-Off Event until November 28th.
The Bug-Off Event is basically a three-minute bug hunt where you try to catch as many insects, arachnids, or pests as you can. It should seem pretty familiar to anyone who’s participated in any of CJ’s Fishing Tourneys. Just go to Flick to start the event and report back to him at the end of the time limit.
Each bug you gather will earn you special points that can be redeemed for prizes from Flick. We don’t know what the prizes are yet, but there’s sure to be all manner of bug-related clothing and home decor. Also, don’t worry if your first run through the event doesn’t go very well, as you can retry as many times as you like by forking over 500 bells.
Get Bugging!
If you like winning prizes or are just an Animal Crossing completionist who needs to own everything in the game, then you should get started with the Bug-Off Event when it begins tomorrow at 9AM. And don’t forget that you can still sell your bugs to Flick for inflated prices, so you can earn a ton of bells while you’re at it. Happy bug-hunting!
