If you didn’t now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons allowed players to purchase televisions, you’d be forgiven. They’re one of the more difficult items to come across, and most players are more interested in fleshing out their Critterpedia than finding a virtual flatscreen for their virtual home. However, it turns out that televisions are bit more interesting than we thought — in fact, there’s an entire cable network available for your viewing pleasure that includes commercials, exercise shows, and even a drama series.
A recent photo posted to Reddit shed light on the amount of detail put into our tiny virtual worlds. Nintendo — apparently not content giving us hundreds of villagers, unique seasonal content, and the ability to terraform our town — has seen fit to include a completely functional television network in New Horizons. The image is from the official Animal Crossing Companion Guide and shows a detailed listing of all the programs scheduled to air on Mondays. The day kicks off with a Variety Show at midnight, running for about an hour before we get a brief shopping commercial.
The day continues on in this fashion — hour long documentaries are shown, talk shows are broadcast, and you can even catch up on the latest news and weather forecast. These weather forecasts are the most valuable inclusion, as broadcasts after 6:30PM let you know what tomorrow’s weather will look like. The guidebook points out how useful this is for anyone hunting meteors, as they won’t have to stay up late and hope for a shower. Instead, they just have to watch the news.
