Flora has a very sparsely decorated house. Turns out, there’s a reason for that.
Some Animal Crossing: New Horizons players may have the good fortune of having Flora as a villager on your island. She’s an honest delight, full of energy, and always excited to see the player in every encounter.
Her home, however, is a bit odd. On the outside, it’s a simple dwelling encased in pink paint (itself not particularly strange in Animal Crossing), but on the inside, it’s very sparsely furnished. There’s usually just a log bench with a radio on it, and maybe a campfire in the corner. Oasis flooring gives the appearance of a pond in the middle of the room, while meadow vista wallpaper makes it seem like she’s living at an actual savannah watering hole.
Oh, and there’s the plastic flamingos, which are a bit creepy.
But it turns out, Flora’s strange abode is all completely by design. Reddit user BeetleJeetle gives us the lowdown on what’s up with Flora.
“Flora’s house was designed to reflect real-life behaviors of flamingos,” writes BeetleJeetle. “Flamingos can be very stressed when they’re alone and do much better in flocks, hence the ‘fake’ flamingos. She doesn’t even have a proper bed because flamingos sleep standing up.”
So next time you head into Flora’s house and start getting the heebie-jeebies, just remember that she’s just doing what comes naturally to flamingos.
