Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives players lots of options when it comes to making paths across their island. But oddly enough, most of them don’t have any real border along their edges, giving them a rather flat, 2D appearance. This is especially true of stone paths, which look a bit bland compared to some of the other choices. However, one Redditor has taken it upon themselves to fix this issue and has created their very own border designs for stone walkways. And boy, do they look impressive.
Reddit user StrawberrySmoothcake recently uploaded their creation for the world to see, and people are already falling in love. Many don’t even realize that this is a custom design, instead thinking that the borders are part of the default walkway. We’d have to agree — the border fits seamlessly with the stone walkway and it’s impossible to tell that it’s a separate tile.
The design does utilize a bit of green to hide portions of the original path texture, but it also adds a cool shadowy effect to the outside of the border. It’s hard to say whether this will still look good when the grass changes colors as we approach the winter months, but for now it’s an absolute beauty.
The Redditor has posted their Creator ID online, so others can enjoy these wonderful designs. Head over to the Able Sisters shop and log in to the kiosk in the back-right corner. From here you can search for the Creator ID mentioned in the above image — so long as you’re a Nintendo Online subscriber.
It’s great to see the New Horizons community continue to thrive, even though the initial Animal Crossing craze has begun to settle down. Dedicated islanders are regularly posting there creations online for others to see, and it seems like there is at least one new cool design every day. The game hasn’t even been out for four months, and we’ve already seen some truly crazy islands. This stone path border is only the tip of the iceberg.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons released Wave One of the Summer Update at the beginning of July, and Wave Two slated for an August launch.
