Here’s how you can catch a Miyama Stag in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
It’s a new month, and that means there are new bugs to find all over your island. July happens to be a special month where a bunch of new beetles start arriving on trees all over the place. Why July? Well, that’s just how long it takes for these stag beetle larvae to gestate into a great big beetle.
The latest arrival is the Miyama Stag beetle, a Japanese stag whose name means “deep mountain.” As you might have guessed, the Miyama Stag is typically found in the Japanese highlands in the northern parts of the main island, but they’re also found in Korea and Eastern Russia.
Unlike in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the Miyama Stag typically prefers to remain on the ground and not out in the open on a tree. That’s just poor planning on the beetle’s part. But the Miyama’s failure is your opportunity to catch one before it leaves at the end of August.
Where And When To Find The Miyama Stag
Like all stag beetles, you can find the Miyama Stag sitting on trees all over your island. They spawn at all hours of the day, but you might have better luck in the evening as there are a lot of day-spawning bugs that have arrived in July. You’ll have to carefully sneak up on the Miyama in order to avoid it noticing you too soon, allowing it to fly away.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Miyama Stag spawns in July and August. In the Southern Hemisphere, it’ll spawn in January and February. That’s two months to capture this beetle before you’ll have to wait another year to try again.
You can sell the Miyama Stag for 1,000 Bells or donate it to Blathers’ museum. You can also wait for Flick to arrive on your island to get a 50% bonus selling it to him.
