You can customize your PC’s home screen in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Here’s how.

There are many things you can customize in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, from t-shirts to rugs. But what about your computer’s home screen? Turns out you can customize that too, although maybe not in the way you were expecting.

For a real PC, changing the desktop picture is as easy as right-clicking on whatever wallpaper you prefer. Animal Crossing treats computers like furniture, so you have to go through the usual process of customizing a piece of furniture. It’s not exactly intuitive to think that a PC’s screen can be changed by taking it to a workshop, but that’s Animal Crossing for you.

Let’s go over the steps you need to create a custom PC screen.

1. Unlock Furniture Customization

To be able to customize furniture at all, you’ll have to progress your game a bit. Blathers will need to have unlocked the museum for you and three new villagers will have to settle on your island. After that, Tom Nook will invite you to attend the customization workshop and then hand you 50 Customization Kits. After that, you should be able to use the workbench to customize certain pieces of furniture.

2. Create A Custom Design

There are two routes you can take here. The first, and probably the easiest route, is to just download a custom design using a QR code. There are tons of great designs out there for you to use, so just find one you like and download it. The process for downloading designs using QR codes can be found in our previous guide here.

The other option is to make a custom design yourself using the NookPhone app. You’ll have to be a halfway decent pixel artist to make a neat 32x32 design, but we have some tips for you here too.

3. Apply Custom Design To PC

This assumes you’ve already purchased a desktop computer from Nook’s Cranny. Take your new rig to Tom Nook’s Workshop and select “customize something” at the workbench. Then select your PC and choose a custom design. This will allow you to change the home screen of your PC.
