Pearls - a brand-new material - were introduced in the 1.3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You’re probably eager to know how you can get your hands on them. Well, look no further - here we’ll give you the low-down on the two ways in which you can do so. Once you have some Pearls in your possession, you’ll be able to craft furniture from the new Mermaid set. For each item of this furniture set you’ll need at least one Pearl to craft them.
New Horizons’ Summer Update brought in a range of new features, with one of the main things being the ability to don a wetsuit and go diving in the ocean. While doing so you’re able to collect different sea creatures which can then be gifted to Nook’s Cranny or donated to Blathers, the museum’s director.
Updated January 17, 2022, by Belle Huston: Now that we’ve had Pearls around for a while, we know a lot more about obtaining them and using them in DIY recipes. We’ve updated this guide for easy reading and to give you all the applicable information so that you won’t have any problem finding Pearls.
Option 1: Pick Pearls Up Off Of The Seafloor
Because of the Summer Update, there are now four times as many creatures to catch under the sea than in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, with anything from a moon jellyfish to a spider crab or a vampire squid being up for grabs. Amongst the wide array of sea creatures are Pearls themselves!
That’s right; you can get Pearls by diving the same way as you do for creatures! Just strike when you see a shadow and bubbles emerge in the water.
Keep in mind, though, Pearls are a pretty rare material, so they might be a bit more difficult to stumble upon in the depths. But don’t give up - just keep at it, and eventually you should be able to find some!
Option 2: Trade With Pascal For Pearls
The other option is to trade with Pascal, the lovable red otter.
Every time you catch a Scallop while diving, there’s a chance that Pascal will pop up and ask you to give it to him. It’s a pretty high chance, so players usually see him the first time they catch a Scallop each day.
Keep in mind…
- Pascal only appears once a day. Scallops can be found all day, all year long.
If you agree to give him a Scallop, Pascal will give you a gift! It could be…
- A Mermaid DIY Recipe A Piece Of Mermaid Clothing A Pearl
Unfortunately, this means that this option isn’t entirely reliable. You won’t always get a Pearl from Pascal. However, the more you see Pascal the better the chance that you’ll get Pearls, since it seems that Pascal avoids giving you the same DIY recipe or Mermaid clothing piece twice.
Now that you’re all set, go forth and fish for some Pearls!
