Animal Crossing: New Horizons has achieved an incredible milestone, as it’s now the best-selling Nintendo Switch game in Japan.
Nintendo’s recent financial report revealed that New Horizons has sold 13.41 million units in Japan, putting it just outside of the top five best-selling Nintendo Switch games of all time. These are still incredible figures, considering that New Horizons has only been on the market for a short period of time.
The latest sales data in Japan has been released by Famitsu and it shows huge gains for New Horizons. According to GamesIndustry.biz, New Horizons is now the best-selling Switch game in Japan with 3.9 million copies sold so far. This puts it ahead of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and its 3.7 million units. This doesn’t mean that New Horizons is the best-selling Switch game around the globe, as that position is still held by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and its 24.77 million units sold, but the fact that it’s the top-selling game in such a significant region is a huge deal for the game.
It’s still early days for New Horizons, but it’s looking like it could be the game that could kick Mario Kart 8 Deluxe from the top spot and become the best-selling Switch game of all time.
