No matter what game they’re released for or how much you’ve been looking forward to them, the universal rule of updates is that something always breaks when they’re implemented. In Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s case, several players have discovered a new glitch that has emerged with the game’s free summer update.
The 1.3.0 update has brought a wealth of new activities and collectable creatures to New Horizons. However, this packed update has also been accompanied by a particularly annoying glitch: namely, that several players with the Zen Bridge have found themselves running into an “invisible wall” when trying to cross it.
Thankfully, this glitch isn’t affecting every player with the Zen Bridge, although videos documenting the phenomenon have been all over social media. Some players are hypothesizing that only bridges that are installed on the third level of players’ islands will be affected due to how the game’s boundaries work.
As instances of this glitch were never reported prior to the summer update, something in the new content must have caused the bridge to break. Exactly what is causing the glitch has yet to be discovered, but considering how quickly Nintendo moved to patch up prior glitches—especially exploitable ones—it’s unlikely that this error will continue for much longer.
Until then, players may be able to get past the invisible barrier by switching to camera mode and crossing or by going to Resident Services and demolishing the bridge. However, as bridges can be extremely expensive, players may want to consider that a last resort measure. An even easier solution is to temporarily dust off the Vaulting Pole until Nintendo rolls out a fix.
While Nintendo has yet to address the glitch, the company is planning on releasing a second summer update sometime in the future. An exact date and what the update might have in store have not been confirmed, but some Animal Crossing fans are hypothesizing that it may include firework shows and even more bugs and fish to catch.
One thing is for sure: if a fix isn’t patched in before then, players can definitely expect it to roll out with the second summer update.
