This just in: Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ free Summer update, coming on July 3rd, will let players swim and dive in the ocean to collect new items and meet new friends. New “mermaid” furniture will be craftable.
Even Gulliver, the perpetually unlucky seagull sailor, is getting an upgrade with the new patch.
The most notable part of the update, however, might be the inclusion of Pascal the Sea Otter, who will trade items he’s dug up to the player in exchange for delicious scallops.
Previous updates to the game have included the ability to build hedges and buy bushes through new merchant Leif, as well as the barely-tolerated Egg Festival.
Another Summer update will come later in the season, bringing untold wonders.
