Want to know what to give your villagers as gifts? This site makes gift-giving easily.
In general, most mayors want to be on good terms with their constituents. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this means being friendly with everyone by talking to them and seeing how they like living on the island. And it also means handing out gifts. In most political systems this would be considered corruption, but since New Horizons isn’t a democracy, it’s just game-mandated bribery. In return for your gifts, you will receive both friendship and a chance at quid-pro-quo in the form of random items or Bells.
But what gift should you give to which villager? That can be a tough question to answer. Luckily, we’ve got a website that will tell you exactly what items any particular villager will find favorable.
First, head on over to NookPlaaza.net and click on the “Villager Gifts” tab. This will bring you to a very simple interface that just asks for the name of the villager you want to bribe–I mean, give a gift. Then just hit the “Find Something Magical” button to be given a list of four items that the named villager will find appealing.
This four-item list is far from complete. Villagers can enjoy a whole bunch of different items, and all this site does is list a few of them at a time. You can click the same villager again to find a different set of four items every time you do it. All the website does is filter out items that the villager won’t like based on their personality.
So why give gifts at all? Well, besides securing a vote for the next island election (which will never happen because Animal Crossing is a dictatorship and not a democracy), villagers that like you will sometimes give you gifts in return. Those gifts can range in value, but sometimes they’ll be items that you couldn’t otherwise obtain at your island’s current state of progression. Or sometimes you’ll just get Bells in return, which is a more direct and understandable form of bribery.
Kidding! You only give gifts for the free loot. New Horizons is a benevolent dictatorship, after all.
