Now that the weather is getting chilly, fans of Animal Crossing are anxiously waiting for the start of mushroom season. This is when mushrooms start to sprout all over the island and can be collected to turn into furniture.
This seasonal event isn’t around for long, so players who want to make all the furniture will have to log-in every day to make sure they are getting the most out of the event. Like with most of the events, there are a handful of things that players should make a note of in order to ensure that it will be successful.
10 When Does It Start?
The start of the mushroom season will always depend on where you are in the world, as the southern hemisphere celebrated this season back in May. For all the players in the Northern Hemisphere, the event is going to take place starting in November and can be activated by time traveling.
The event starts on the very first day of November and will run until the first day of December.
9 Getting Recipes
When you log-in to the game for the first day in November, Isabelle will likely reward players with the mushroom wreath recipe as long as no other events are taking place. From there on out, it’s up to the player to take the time to try and find the rest of the recipes.
These can often be found floating around as presents attached to balloons, and some will even wash up on the beach.
8 How Many Recipes Are There?
There are twelve recipes in total, and, for the most part, they are all pretty simple to make. Like with most timed events, the chance of receiving a mushroom recipe is increased to help the games players collect them all. The recipes are not shared by other players on the same island.
It is possible, however, to leave the mushroom recipes lying around for others to pick up just like with common recipes.
7 Spawning Time
Next, players need to make a note of when mushrooms will spawn on their island. Mushrooms will only spawn once a day no matter how many times the player leaves or logs in and out of their island. The spawn time is always set to five AM when Isabelle makes the morning announcement.
Mushrooms won’t stack when spawning, so don’t try and wait for them to pile up by not playing for days.
6 Mushroom Types
There are five different mushrooms that can be collected during the season. This is the flat mushroom, round mushroom, rare mushroom, skinny mushroom, and elegant mushroom. Every mushroom type is easy to identify, so it will be rather hard for players to mix them up when collecting.
It’s important to note that skinny mushrooms look like three separate mushrooms, while elegant mushrooms are tall and skinny but are only a single mushroom.
5 Rare Mushrooms
While the other four types of mushrooms are usually easy to find, the rare mushroom will be a pain for some players. The rare mushroom won’t spawn on player’s islands often, and, when it does, it has to spawn near a tree. It can’t be seen above ground, though, and will have to be dug up by players.
If an x appears on the ground near a tree, there is a chance that it might be a rare mushroom instead of a fossil.
4 Mushroom Prices
Yes, players can sell mushrooms, and they are actually worth quite a bit of money. The lowest amount of bells you can make is 200 bells off of the flat mushroom. The round mushroom is worth 200 bells as well, while the skinny mushroom is worth 300 bells. The elegant mushroom is worth 10,000 bells.
If players find more than one rare mushroom on their island, then they can sell it for 16,000 bells without having to worry about impacting their crafting.
3 Sharing Mushrooms
If fans can’t find the mushrooms they are looking for, then they can turn to the internet for help. It has been proven that mushrooms can be traded or picked by other players that are invited to other gamers’ islands. Trading is one of the best ways to complete seasonal item sets in the game.
When November hits, many Animal Crossing groups will likely start swapping mushrooms and recipes.
2 Island Rating
While this hasn’t been completely confirmed, many gamers have noted a difference in mushrooms on higher-rated islands. This rumor states that rare mushrooms are more likely to spawn on a five-star island. These players have recorded a larger yield of mushroom compared to their friends.
While this may just be thanks to RNG going easy on these players, having a 5-star island is a goal for just about every fan.
1 Limited Supplies
Things can get a bit dicey for players who share their Nintendo Switch with family members. As with most items, mushrooms are in limited supply, so it’s a bit of a first-come, first-serve basis during the season. This will likely lead to a few issues in households with multiple fans.
In the case of a mushroom shortage, trading and time-traveling may be the best way to ensure everyone can create their item set.
