At one point during Anthem’s story, players will be tasked with gathering a material known as Corium to craft the Shield of Dawn, but knowing how to find this rare metal is half the battle. The other half is finding and facing down Titans, as defeating them is currently the only confirmed way to gather the material needed to craft the shield.
First, players will need to get the Shield of Dawn blueprint from either Sentinel Dax or Matthias. Dax will offer three different missions, whereas Matthias’ mission is the featured Triple Threat mission from the Anthem demo.
To gather the Corium, players can find Titans in the Freeplay mode or by completing missions that feature them. One of Dax’s missions will have players face a Titan, giving players 1 of the 3 Corium they will need. Completing the Triple Threat mission pits the player against a number of Titans, so it may be the most efficient way of gathering these rare metals. However, doing both is likely the most surefire method to get the item, as drop rates in Anthem could be an issue for some.
There’s also another benefit for completing both sets of missions. Doing so will also allow the player to craft the Shield of Dawn at a lower cost, but for those who do not wish to spend the time on both missions, it will require 100 Chimeric Alloy, 100 Chimeric Compound, 50 Uncommon Ember, and 10 Rare Ember in addition to the 3 Corium.
The aforementioned materials are reduced to a tenth of what they normally require if both Anthem missions are completed. It’s also worth mentioning that players can also salvage items and weapons in the Vault to get Rare Embers and the chimeric items if they are still somewhat short.
Once this is complete, Anthem players can head into the forge, craft the Shield of Dawn, and continue with the story. While the task looks simple on the surface, it is labor intensive. Nevertheless, doing so puts players one step closer to confronting the Heart of Rage.
Anthem is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
