Every character in Apex Legends has something called a Tactical Ability, which is triggered by the touch of a button and has a small cooldown period. Players often find that some tactical abilities are better than others, although it does partly rely on your personal playstyle. They can be useful to the player themselves, or work to benefit the entire squad.

It can be difficult to choose a character, but knowing who has the best Tactical Ability can help narrow down your decision. You might be tempted to try someone new after learning how theirs can help you become an Apex Champion!

10 Pathfinder (Grappling Hook)

Pathfinder’s Grappling Hook makes him a very mobile player as he is able to maneuver himself between buildings and even onto roofs. It can even allow him to cover greater distances at a faster speed by shooting it at the ground in the distance.

This might be an unpopular opinion, however, it was ranked lowest due to the fact that it is primarily for the user and doesn’t provide many benefits to your team.

9 Wraith (Into The Void)

Wraith can use her Tactical Ability called Into the Void to evade enemies or even move at faster speeds, which is why she is one of the best characters in the game. It helps to fake them out as all they can see is a blue blur and attempt to follow it.

It can be useful to your teammates as you hop into the void in order to revive them or even draw your opponent away from the fight as they are distracted by your methods.

8 Bangalore (Smoke Launcher)

Bangalore has a Smoke Launcher and it provides a dense cloud of smoke that gives your team cover. You can use it to revive your teammate, reposition during a fight, or even run away if you are getting beat.

This is also great to use with a Bloodhound teammate as they can pull their Beast of the Hunt and take out opponents in the smoke, which is something new players often don’t know how to do.

7 Gibraltar (Dome Of Protection)

Gibraltar’s Dome of Protection provides your team with a safe space as no bullets, grenades, or abilities can make their way inside. An opponent can enter it to try and kill you, but it will be possible to see them coming from a mile away.

It allows your team to heal or jump in and out in order to safely pop shots at an opponent. The shield is a great thing to have in any fighting situation, but it doesn’t compare to some of the tacticals that other characters have in their arsenal.

6 Revenant (Silence)

Silence is an ability that Revenant can throw which deals damage and prevents your opponents from using their abilities for 20 seconds. It is basically a trap, and leaves them open to gunfire and for your teammates to use their own abilities on a team.

This might not be great in the hands of a beginner who lacks communication and an understanding of Revenant, but when working with a certain set of teammates it can be deadly.

5 Crypto (Surveillance Drone)

There is never a time where knowing your opponent’s position can hurt you, which is why Crypto’s Surveillance Drone is so useful. He can send it out into an area and use it to mark opponents, as well as distract them.

They will be so focused on shooting it out of the sky they might not notice your teammates sneaking around them to land an organized attack.

4 Rampart (Amped Cover)

The end game can be brutal, especially when it lands you in an open area with limited cover. However, Rampart’s Amped Cover changes this as it provides a wall to protect you from your opponent’s bullets.

Not only does it block bullets, but it amps up your own from your best loadout by increasing your damage by 20% when you shoot through the top screen. You can deploy up to five covers at a time, making it so you can create your own protected corner by laying them down side by side.

3 Caustic (Nox Gas Trap)

Caustic can lay down up to six Nox Gas Traps, which can be triggered by either shooting it or having an opponent trigger it by walking within range. This stuff is deadly as it not only deals damage but also slows your opponents as well, which is something everyone should know before their first jump.

You can use it to camp buildings, cover your blind side, or simply deal damage in the middle of a close-range fight.

2 Lifeline (D.O.C. Heal Drone)

Lifeline is the healer and her D.O.C. Heal Drone exemplifies this as it can be thrown to restore health. It can be used by your entire squad at once and is a great way to provide healing when you are low on med kits and syringes.

You might not be able to throw it in every instance, but when you are safe it can be used to help conserve your supplies for when you really need them.

1 Bloodhound (Eye Of The Allfather)

Bloodhound’s Eye of the Allfather Tactical Ability is by far the most useful in the game as he can pinpoint the location of his opponents. It even tells how many are in the immediate vicinity so you can see just how many teams might be pushing you.

The great thing about it is that your teammates can see where your opponents might be located after a scan. This way everyone knows right where they are and don’t have to waste their time searching, which is one thing everyone who wants to get better at the game should know.
