Data mines of the latest update to Apex Legends reveal that a new limited-time paintball mode might be just around the corner.
The Lost Treasure Collection has arrived. With it comes a bunch of new limited-time-only cosmetics like skins for characters and weapons, some new changes to Legend abilities, and a bug that makes Wraith practically invincible (that has since been patched).
But also with the most recent update comes new data that might shed light on what’s in store for Apex Legends in the coming weeks. And what we’ve found might involve some very colorful combat.
Dataminder @shrugtal seems to have located bits of code that point at a limited-time paintball game mode. References to “paint,” “paintball,” and various colors of rounds like yellow, green, and purple.
That’s all we have, but it certainly seems like a paintball mode to us. There’s no mention of weapon restrictions, but expect the energy weapons to be removed as they don’t fire any physical objects that can be turned into a paintball.
Other data miners have located new skins and sprays in the recent update files as well. Respawn has offered no official confirmation of the new game mode, and we don’t expect them to. But keep an ear out for this new game mode to pop up in the coming weeks.
