It wasn’t too surprising to see Apex Legends be featured during the EA Play Live presentation. But one neat surprise that came from it was that the game will soon be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam. Not only that, but cross-play will be added as well, so players on any platform can fight together or against each other.

However, it’s now been discovered that Apex Legends is planned to release on one other platform: mobile devices. Though this wasn’t mentioned by EA or Respawn during EA Play Live, this has been stated by EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

The info comes from footage of an EA Fireside Chat, which took place on June 22nd, where Wilson states that Apex Legends is intended to receive a soft-launch on mobile by the end of this year. This footage was then shared via the Twitter account ApexLatest, which has regularly posted news and leaks pertaining to the game.

It’s unlikely that the mobile version will be the full game and will most probably be a beta of some sort. It’s also not known if the mobile version will come with the cross-play feature at launch or at all.

The new Apex Legends also came with some updates, such as a new Lost Treasures event, but some things remained the same, namely the game’s matchmaking system that is still skill-based, something which continues to be a source of debate and discussion within the community.

The Lost Treasures event hasn’t been exactly perfect, either, as it has been reported that one of the character’s new skins has somehow given those who use it an unfair advantage. Fortunately, Respawn was made aware of the issue and stated that it will fix it.

Elsewhere, some fans remain hopeful that Respawn will return to the Titanfall series and make Titanfall 3. With Titanfall 2 now on Steam and old players rediscovering its much beloved single-player campaign and new players getting a chance to experience it firsthand, it could show EA and Respawn that there is still a market for the series.

Apex Legends, being set in the same universe, has referenced Titanfall a number of times, but it’s clear that fans would prefer a new title, though it’s been theorized that such a game could be heavily influenced by Apex Legends’ success.

Apex Legends is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will release on Nintendo Switch and Steam this fall.
