Mobile Respawn Beacons have been introduced for the Armed and Dangerous Evolved limited-time event in Apex Legends. They’ve spiced things up and changed the dynamics of the game.

Respawn Beacons have been scattered throughout the map since Season One, with players often having to traverse great distances to revive their teammates. Not only can the distance be a problem, but towards the game when the ring is small, there may not be any beacons left, and the ones that are left probably have enemies guarding them. Until now, these obstacles have made respawning your teammate a challenge. They’ve also led to many fights with one or two players out of the game, waiting to be revived.

The new Mobile Respawn Beacons are only available in the Armed and Dangerous Evolved game mode and may be introduced to the general loot pool at a later stage. The old respawn beacons have been completely removed, so the only hope to revive fallen comrades is with the new mobile versions. Luckily, each player is equipped with one from the start that can be used when needed.

The Mobile Respawn Beacons work similar to the Lifeline Care package and deploy via satellite. It takes time to land, and then your teammates still have to use it to revive you, which takes even more time. Any nearby teams will be alerted to the location and will probably look for easy pickings, which means if you aren’t careful, they may even attack before the Mobile Respawn Beacon has landed so they can use it for themselves.

So, how will it change the gameplay? For one thing, no more running through hostile territory trying to avoid enemies so you can reach that last Respawn Beacon. You can now summon a Mobile Respawn Beacon wherever you are and revive your teammate. Obviously, it isn’t that simple, and you still have to find a place where you won’t get ambushed or an area that can be easily defended.

Mobile Respawn Beacons may also change other aspects of the game as teams learn to use them tactically. They can be used as bait to lure teams in for the kill, or as a distraction, while your team moves to another location.

It’s fantastic that Respawn keeps making changes to keep the game fresh, and Mobile Respawn Beacons are a welcome addition. It will be interesting to see if any changes are made to them before they’re added to regular and ranked matches.
