Gun sync, for those unaware, is basically using the weapons fire from video games to replace various instruments in music–usually the percussion, for obvious reasons. Reddit user AmazingCanisLupis has a great example of what gun sync sounds like with their latest video posted to the Apex Legends subreddit.
“I got bored. Again,” wrote AmazingCanisLupis for their second gun sync video. The Crypto main rotates through basically the entire Apex Legends arsenal, from the tattering R-99 to the booming retort of the Kraber .50-CAL.
Dubstep is a much better genre to cover than their last video, with the shield battery recharge service as an ideal sound effect for the beat dropping. Gunshots also mix better with dubstep thanks to their sharpness, whereas other genres want their percussion to be a little more subtle.
Such as in AmazingCanisLupis’s first gun sync video which covered the title track of Netflix’s BNA anime. The guns are just a little too jarring and tend to overpower the heavy guitars that should be driving the melody. But we can hardly criticize the first effort too harshly, especially when the follow-up performance is so outstanding.
In related Apex Legends news, data miners have confirmed that there will not be a nighttime version of the World’s Edge map as initially speculated. Sadly, there’s no actual code present in the game to support the existence of a night World’s Edge, even though the existence of a night King’s Canyon would seem to lend credibility to the rumor. This either makes the leaked image an elaborate fake or merely a graphical glitch.
Crossplay is another big topic in the Apex Legends world, with an upcoming update set to bring the console and PC player base together for the first time. Players are rightfully concerned that PC players will have an inherent advantage due to the precision of mouse and keyboard over controllers, but Respawn Entertainment is telling players via TikTok not to worry and instead “be excited.”
