When Kings Canyon underwent a massive transition at the beginning of Apex Legends Season 5, the map also gave players a new way to boost their ultimates. Instead of waiting for a character’s ultimate to reach a full charge or spending time gathering and using ultimate accelerants, players can now find numerous charge towers scattered across the map.
The charge towers do exactly what one might expect — players can use them to instantly charge their ultimate abilities. Further, the charge stations also charge the ultimate of anyone else who is standing on the station when the charge reaches its maximum capacity, setting off a shockwave of energy.
Here’s where players can find charge stations on the Kings Canyon map.
Capacitor
As its name implies, this place appears to be full of electrical currents. So perhaps it’s no surprise that this is where players will find three separate charge stations. Two are at the southeast corner of the new map area, which made its debut at the beginning of Season 5. There’s also a charge tower at the northwest corner of this area, a short walk away. Because they’re so close together, a team can charge their ultimates three different times in succession without having to go very far. This is particularly helpful when playing a legend such as Lifeline, who has the potential to receive high-tier armor, helmets and health items in her care package ultimate.
The Rig
At the northeast corner of Kings Canyon, there’s now an area called The Rig. This area stretches across the water and contains a charge station squarely in the middle of the location. As this area is somewhat remote and often has good loot, it can potentially be a strong place to drop and get powered up before heading to more popular drop locations like Capacitor.
West of Capacitor
If you’re in the south area of Capacitor, moving west will lead players to encounter a higher-ground area, which they can reach by either using ziplines or taking the stairs. This leads to an area with a few crates. However, if players continue heading west, they’ll find a structure with a charge tower positioned on the north side of it. Because of the area’s central location on the map, it can be a solid opportunity for a quick charge-up while players make their way toward the next zone.
South of Salvage
In the Apex Legends Season 5 trailer, players saw Loba cause a rift in Skulltown that showed there’s an underground bunker on this area of the map. Players can only get into it from dropping off the dropship or by very carefully jumping off a certain ledge area of the map. Those who are able to enter the area will find a hidden charge tower as well as some additional loot.
East of Airbase
There’s a charge tower located to the east of Airbase. This is great for a quick power up after finishing a fight at Airbase and moving toward your team’s next destination. Should a player get into a fight there, it’s helpful because it also adds some cover in an area that was fairly barren before the current season’s map changes.
Runoff
Just to the east of Runoff, players will find a charge tower in an otherwise open area that looks out over a respawn beacon. This can be useful to know if a player needs to respawn a teammate. Upon spawning back in, that player can immediately recharge their ultimate ability before jumping back into the game and taking more fights.
