The new weapon changes in Apex Legends: Season 6 are crazy. Season 6 - Boosted brought many changes to the game that have drastically changed the meta. Many players are up in arms because they’re dying so quickly.
Season 6 made changes to the World’s Edge map, introduced Rampart as a new character, and added the Volt SMG as a new weapon. It also brought the Devotion back to the loot pool and buffed the Triple Take. Evo shields have replaced regular shields in the loot pool and got a nerf. The time to kill (TTK) has been reduced, and players aren’t happy about it.
The Devotion was once a regular loot weapon but was changed to drop in a care package because of how overpowered it is. In its regular form, it takes a moment to spin up, but once it gets going, it easily rips through shields and downs enemies in an instant. With the turbocharger hop-up attached, it shoots instantly and becomes even more lethal.
Not only has the Devotion been introduced back into the floor loot, but the turbocharger has also been added. Thanks to the new crafting system, there’ve even been days when they can be manufactured on-demand, without the need for searching through loot boxes.
The Triple Take is another gun to receive a serious buff. In previous seasons it needed a choke to increase the damage. The choke is now built-in and can now be turned on or off at will. The fire-rate has also increased from 1.25 -> 1.4, and the mag size has also increased from (5/6/7/8) to (6/7/8/9). These changes have radically altered its usefulness and made it deadlier than ever.
Many top players are complaining about the changes. Everyone is gravitating towards these weapons and it is taking the fun out of the game. Streamer Hardecki posted a tweet showing his untimely death to the Triple Take, and another big name Apex Legends player, LuluLuverly, tweeted, “Now that my day 1 rage is out of the way here are my thoughts about Apex season 6. Let remind SOME of you people that if I didn’t have a passion and love for this game, I would just quit when things are bad.”
One of the supposed reasons for reducing the TTK in Apex Legends was to shorten the time of each gunfight to stop teams from always getting third-partied. They’ve had the opposite effect and reduced the skill gap between high-level and low-level players. Hopefully, Respawn can make some changes and bring balance back to the game.
