World’s Edge return to Apex Legends yesterday, the second map of the Apex Games introduced late last year. It’s the first time the new character Loba has been able to check out the map, so many Apex Legends fans may have asked: “can vault loot be stolen by Loba?”
Apex Legends’ ultimate for Loba sees her throw down a shop that can pull loot from nearby locations, meaning in theory, this too can be done to steal loot from the vaults scattered across World’s Edge.
However, that’s not genuinely the case. As seen below, players who attempt to do so can pull on item from the World’s Edge Vault before it starts blaring alarms. Pulling one item will cancel out Loba’s ultimate and alert everyone to the character’s presence. It’s a nice risk-reward system where it may be worthwhile for certain loot but also bring a ton of Apex Legends players down on the would-be thief.
The foresight for World’s Edge here is incredibly potent of Respawn Entertainment as well. Knowing that stealing all the loot, even with alarms, would be a bit on the broken side, while preventing Loba from stealing items would be counter intuitive to her character shows how much thought went into it. This is a rather fair system as it stands, and potentially one reason Apex Legends season 5 is considered a game changer by many.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
