The Pokémon Company will be hosting another Pokémon Presents event next week to reveal a major new title. Some fans believe that they already know what it is, based on clues from the previous Pokémon Presents show. The plushies in the background of the livestream hint that the next game could be a sequel to the Pokémon: Let’s Go! games that is set in the Johto region.

The Pokémon: Let’s Go! games were the first major Pokémon titles released for Nintendo Switch, but they were different from the mainline games. While technically being remakes of Pokémon Yellow, the Pokémon: Let’s Go! games owed a lot to Pokémon GO in terms of design and had a much bigger focus on catching Pokémon than winning battles.

Ishihara was sat at a desk throughout the show, with a cabinet adorned with Pokémon toys and plushies arranged behind him. The fans quickly noticed the abundance of Pokémon from Pokémon Gold & Silver in the background. The plushies include Politoed, Sudowoodo, Ampharos, Ho-oh, Lugia, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Feraligatr, Umbreon, Espeon and Typhlosion. All of these Pokémon debuted in Pokémon Gold & Silver. The Gen II Pokémon far outnumber the other Pokémon on display, which come from either Gen I or Gen VIII.

It makes sense for The Pokémon Company to want to release more Pokémon: Let’s Go! games, especially as Pokémon GO is still a huge deal (even in lockdown). The only question now is what the games will be called. Could the big announcement next week be for Pokémon: Let’s Go, Dunsparce, and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Smeargle? Probably not. They will more likely be called Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu Gold & Eevee Silver. We won’t have long to wait to find out, as the next Pokémon Presents event is only a week away.
