Brawlhalla is now on mobile. Yes, that means you can brawl on your phone.

This day was a long time coming, Brawlhalla announced late last year that it would be getting a mobile adaptation along with cross-play support, which means that iPhone players can match up against Switch, PS4, Android, PC, and Xbox One players. We found out last month that after a slight COVID-related delay we’d finally see this mobile version of Brawlhalla arrive on August 5, and that day has finally arrived.

Welcome to Brawlhalla.

For those completely unaware, Brawlhalla is Ubisoft’s version of Smash Bros., but with cartoonier graphics and a monetization scheme that lends itself to unique character skins and cosmetic items–the perfect thing for a new mobile game. Although Brawlhalla certainly didn’t get started as a mobile title–the game got its start on Steam after a releasing to a 2-year-long open beta. Since then, Brawlhalla has continued to grow thanks to being free-to-play and hosting a ton of cool crossover events.

Wanna play a brawler as Lara Croft? Or how about a WWE Wrestler? Or maybe one of the Crystal Gems from Steven Universe? All of those are options in Brawlhalla, along with characters from Shovel Knight, Adventure Time, and Hellboy.

These crossover characters are mostly just reskins from Brawlhalla’s existing roster of 50 characters. Except for Rayman, who is his own weird and untouchable thing.

For the mobile port, the controls are about what you’d expect from a mobile game. There are customizable touchscreen controls that let move or resize the virtual buttons, along with both keyboard and controller support. Otherwise, the game is the same: you make an account, you sign in, and then you start fighting.

Crossplay is standard, so you’ll match up with whoever is available regardless of what platform they’re playing on. For this reason, we’d recommend a mobile controller setup to keep things on an even playing field. Unless you’re super great at mobile controls, in which case, fight on you crazy diamond.
