Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will keep you invested from the beginning to one of the different endings it offers. The game is large and reaching the max level can be a daunting task for even the most seasoned of players out there.

Thankfully though, developer Ubisoft has a variety of different activities for the player to partake in that not only provides great rewards but also excellent experience gains. Gains that will help you reach the max level of 99 in the game. There is a lot more to it than meets the eye but here are some tips to help you get started.

10 Do Side Quests

Getting an obvious one out of the way, but the fastest way to earn XP and level up is by doing side quests when not busy doing the main quest. Some might seem mundane but they can eventually lead to more quests that have an over-arching narrative, like with The Daughters of Artemis.

Please note that certain quests provide more XP than others. This can be judged by the color of the background of XP in the quest section of the pause menu. From smallest to largest, the colors are blue, purple, and yellow.

9 Explore The World

Fast traveling in games, while great, can sometimes take away the wonder of exploring a map to its fullest. In Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey exploring is a good way to get some easy XP quickly.

Entering a new region, city, or other similar areas for the first time will give you a small amount of XP. This acts as a great way to score a bit of XP while you try to reach that one side quest you’re interested in doing.

8 Remember To Do Contracts

Contracts in Odyssey are timed events you have to do in a certain period or else they will expire. These usually consist of stealing, taking out a target, or destroying a ship.

While they seem mundane, certain quests offer some legendary rewards and XP for completing them. These usually range from orichalcum to ship skins and a lot of drachmae to spend. Contracts can be found on message boards in either major settlements or on the Adrestia.

7 Complete Location Objectives

Players will notice how some areas in the game, such as forts, camps, and some houses, will have location objectives that need completing. If you can, you should try and do these since finishing all of them will net you some XP.

These objectives usually range from freeing prisoners, opening chests, killing officers, and looting the nation treasure chest if there happens to be one. The last of which is necessary if you wish to weaken a nation.

6 Partake In Conquest Battles

Once a region is weakened enough, a conquest battle will open for you to partake in. The two sides involved are always Athens and Sparta, but who’s defending and attacking will vary based on who controls the region.

While siding with either the attacking or defending side will give you a good amount of XP, the former will give better rewards at the cost of being harder to complete. Pick whatever side you think is best to side with at the time since it does not affect the narrative in any way.

5 Find Tombs For Stele Pieces

The map is home to many ancient Greek icons and myths. They come in many forms in the game, including tombs that offer stele pieces.

Recovering pieces may not give you up, but it does give you a point to upgrade one of the game’s many abilities. By finding these pieces, you can gain an ability point without having to increase your level.

4 Take Down Wandering Mercenaries

Kassandra/Alexios are not the only mercenaries offering ancient Greece their services. There are also many other mercenaries of varying levels. They are marked by a Spartan helmet on the game’s map and can be tracked in the mercenaries section of the pause menu once discovered.

Taking out these mercenaries will give you a variety of different gear to better yourself. Killing one also increases your tier level, which provides bonuses like discounts at shops or lessening the upgrade requirements of the Adrestia. Furthermore, killing mercenaries also garners the chance of discovering the Arena.

3 Compete In The Arena

The Arena is located towards the southern edge of the map in Pephka and has its own questline. The Eagle Bearer can partake against Arena champions to earn not only XP but also the Arena Fighter’s legendary armor set.

The champions each have their own level requirement so be sure you are ready before you try to take them on. If you can’t defeat one, sometimes you’ll find a wandering mercenary to fight instead of a champion. Enabling you to potentially increase your tier level.

2 Take Out Spartan And Athenian Fort Polemarchs

When you are exploring a large fortress in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you may notice an objective for killing the fort polemarch. You should do this whenever possible since killing them will give you a seal you can turn into one of two people. Give Spartan seals to Demosthenes in Athens and Athenian seals to Lysander in Sparta.

Both were real historical generals for Athens and Sparta respectively and have their own questline associated with recovering seals. Give them three of each to progress through the questline to earn epic gear, drachmae, and, most important of all, XP.

1 Kill Cult Of Kosmos Members

The Cult of Kosmos rule the Greek world from the shadows and are the secret perpetrators of the Peloponnesian War. They are also responsible for ruining the Eagle Bearer’s family, so the cult is just asking for it.

Members must first be tracked down, either through finding clues or completing certain quests, and then assassinated. The cult is split into seven branches, and eliminating each one is considered a separate quest. Not only will you get legendary gear from killing them but also a large amount of XP. Better get to work.
