One of the changes that were made in Valhalla in comparison to other Assassin’s Creed games is the addition of settlement buildings. It is truly unique as you can add and upgrade various buildings for special perks, items, and skills that can make them the most important. Players often struggle to decide which buildings are the best to put up first, as some are more useful than others.

This list ranks the buildings based on how much a player needs them in their settlement as some cannot be found anywhere else in this open-world RPG. Keep reading to learn the ranking of the buildings and what they do to help you in the game!

It can be enjoyed at any time during your journey and focuses on Irish history and a cult. The first step to reaching these shores is to add the best and most important buildings to your settlement so you can destroy the competition in this new land.

15 Grain Farm

There is something called the feast buff, where you ring the bell at the longhouse and it calls everyone together for a big meal. When you build the Grain Farm your feast buff will include a +3 Armor bonus for a limited time.

It can help you take down some of the tougher enemies, and some are more difficult to face than others.

14 Fowl Farm

The feast buff for the Fowl Farm will grant you +3 Melee Damage, which is a nice bump if you prefer to take the offensive. It will give you an edge that your opponents don’t have as you continue the story.

This might not be as grand as some of the other buildings, but it is still one of the more important ones to build.

13 Bakery

Once your settlement hits level 2, then you can build the bakery which can give you a feast buff. It will grant you +25 Health after you partake in the fun which could make a huge difference in a fight, like when taking on some of the hardest bosses. It also has a few quests involving the baker, and an option to romance him as well.

12 Stable and Aviary

The Stable and Aviary is where you can pick up new skins for your mount and raven, but it serves another purpose as well. You can train your horse to have better stats, making it more efficient on longer journeys.

There are others like this spread across the map, but it is easier if you can fast travel back to your settlement to perform these types of changes.

11 Trading Post

The Trading Post is where you can buy a variety of items, such as tattoos, weapons, and resources. There are several located across the map, but it is nice to have one in your settlement, so you don’t have to travel far in order to reach it.

This settlement building tends to have unique items for you to buy as well, and it unlocks the Pending Deliveries side quest if you were looking for a change of pace.

10 Cartographer

This is useful in the later game or for those with a passion for completing all of the areas by uncovering wealth, artifacts, and mysteries. Players are obviously supposed to explore on their own and can usually find most of them by themselves if they complete the main storyline and go to all of the colored dots on their map.

It is useful in this sense, but most players don’t buy these until later in the game which is why it was ranked closer to the bottom.

9 Octavian’s Museum

Octavian’s Museum is where players can drop off all of the Roman artifacts they find throughout the game. These artifacts can be given to Octavian in exchange for special scenery items that can be used to decorate your settlement.

You will have to collect a few before he will take them, but it is a way to unload Eivor from carrying these items if you are someone who goes after them as you enter each new location.

8 Hunter’s Hut

The Hunter’s Hut serves several purposes as it is a place to drop off trophies of legendary animals, as well as earn some cool rewards. The legendary animals are marked on the map by a glowing blue pawprint and this hut will allow you to collect some rewards like unique weapons.

If you collect parts of animals in the world those can also be given to Wallace and it will allow players to gain items such as tattoos and special runes.

7 Barracks

The Barracks might not seem all that useful, but it does allow you to create a Jomsviking. Other players can recruit your Jomsviking which will allow you to collect silver for their battles and recruitment.

The Jomsviking can also be outfitted with the gear and weapons you have collected throughout the world to make them even better. You can also choose your raiding team by picking from the Vikings you recruit through the story, as well as assign other player’s Jomsvikings to your team.

6 Shipyard

The Shipyard might be lower on some other player’s agendas, but those who enjoy changing the look of their ship will understand. When this is built it will allow you to change the hull, sail, tailpiece, figurehead, and shields.

This is something that can’t be done anywhere else in the world, and it can be disappointing to buy and collect new cosmetic pieces but not be able to use them. Ships were an integral part of the Viking Era, which is why yours should look amazing with special cosmetic choices.

5 Tattoo And Barber Shop

Eivor is customizable by both her hair and tattoos, but this is another thing that can only be done in your settlement. You must build the Tattoo and Barbershop in order to make these cosmetic changes to Eivor.

The tattoos can be found and bought throughout the world, with one category being face tattoos, while the hairstyles can be acquired at various trading posts in different areas.

4 Seer’s Hut

Valka is the Seer who comes to Raventhorpe a little later in the game, and her hut can then be built. This isn’t necessary to build her hut right away, but it is great once you start growing bored with the monotony of England.

The build of this hut will allow players to travel to Asgard and Jotunheim where special quests, wealth, and mysteries can be found.

3 Fishing Hut

The skill of fishing is not unlocked until you build a fishing hut at your settlement, which is why this is so high in the ranking. There are certain mysteries that require fishing to be available to you, but that is not the only reason to build this hut.

You can drop off the fish you catch in order to gain special rewards, similar to the Hunter’s Hut, such as special tattoos and runes. However, you must know the best places to fish in order to catch them.

2 Hidden Ones Bureau

The Hidden Ones Bureau is what unlocks the Order of the Ancients and shows you the various members who must be disposed of. You will also be tasked with finding the Codex pages located in the bureaus hidden all over England.

Collecting the pages will give players the Hidden Ones armor set and completing the quests for Reda will earn you special rewards.

1 Blacksmith

The Blacksmith, run by Gunnar, is the most useful building in the settlement as the power of your weapons is the difference between victory and defeat. This is also the only place where your weapons can be upgraded, such as your daggers, using different ingots in the entire world.

It might not seem like much, but it will truly make a difference when in the heat of battle with more difficult enemies.
